Well, I'm in Oakland now crashing at Paresh's Day's Inn. Paresh is the guy who Nathaniel and I may potentially have a job with after we graduate, whenever that may be. He's a pretty cool guy, he's letting me stay here for free until Saturday. Anyway, I'm about 40 minutes north of where Nathaniel and I stayed last time, so nothing is familiar around here.
I'll be honest, California is pretty awesome, but kinda lame at the same time when you're here alone, don't know the area, it's dark and rainy, and you have a sweet rent-a-car that you don't want to put in danger on those streets full of insane California drivers. I don't have any instruments to entertain me, but I've got a video camera to entertain myself with for now. I'll see where that takes me...though I'm pretty limited on material to work with.
TiE, the company we made the show for, is disappointing me yet again. They really didn't show much interest in hosting me out here at all. That's not a good way to bring someone back to write 12 episodes for you, guys (though the paycheck may be of some influence). Also, I found out that only a few dozen people were going to be at this premiere, including me, and about 90% of them are going to be from the companies we interviewed on the show in the first place. Why am I even here?
Anyway, tomorrow is the premiere. Apparently there'll be some rockin' after-party that Paresh is hosting. I shouldn't expect much, but I will. We'll see how that goes. For now, I'll watch all the channel101.com videos I've downloaded (since I have no internet in my room) and see what I can do with this video camera.
I think I've used up my time on the lobby computer. Hope everyone back home is rockin' out for me.
