I meant to type "finals" as the subject of this entry, but my right hand was situated one key too far to the right, so it came out all wrong.

First exam is tomorrow, and its Chemistry. I missed the last few classes, so today was spent reading the textbook to catch myself up. Normally I hate chemistry, but the classes I missed were about nuclear power, so it was fun to read about Chernobyl and shit like that. Our textbook in that class has a very big environmentalist slant. It pisses me off because the way sentences are written, a lot of it is pure propaganda. A typical sentence:

"In 1998, 125 billion gallons of gasoline were burned in more than 203 million American automobiles, SUVs, and light trucks traveling an astounding 2.6 trillion miles, the equivalent of 1400 round trips to the sun."

Why the hell do you include "SUVs, and light trucks" in your sentence? Doesn't "automobiles" already cover that? jackass. Don't get me wrong, politically I'm generally all for the environment. Trees and birds make me happy and I enjoy clean air. I just feel insulted by this kind of sneaky writing, especially in a textbook. Not really insulted enough to be angry, but enough to roll my eyes when I come across such a ridiculous and inane fuck* sentence.

I found this neat game online: http://www.nationstates.net.
You create a country and everyday they send you some issue to resolve as leader of the country (about voting rights, or minorities on TV, etc). Based on piss* your choices, your country changes and people react to you differently. I like it because its interesting, there's a shitload of people playing, and it only takes about 2 minutes to play (you only get 1-2 issues per day). Look at my country here: http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=hjell. If any of you decide to play and make a country, let me know, and you can join my region.

Here's an article about the Nationstates game: http://www.cbc.ca/arts/media/statesofmind.html

Also, my friend Peter sent me a gmail account today. If you want to send me a message, send to: tummai@gmail.com

that's all.

bye.

go away.
