Musically Madness

On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favourite line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.

1) "Now Daddy didn't like trouble, but if it came along
Everyone that knew him knew which side that he'd be on
He never was a hero, or this county's shinin' light
But you could always find him standing up
For what he thought was right"

2) "Well the crowd cleared away
And I began to pray
As the water fell on the floor.
And I'm telling you son,
Well, it ain't no fun
Staring straight down a forty-four.
Well he turned and screamed at Linda Lu
And that's the break I was looking for.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away
As I was headed out towards the door."

3) "Don’t know how you do it
I love the way I lose it, every time
What’s even better
Is knowing that forever you’re all mine
The closer you get, the more my body aches
One little stare from you is all it takes"

4) "She wonders how it ever got this crazy.
She thinks about a boy she knew in school.
Did she get tired or did she just get lazy?
She's so far gone she feels just like a fool."

*5) "If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you"

6) "Touch
Like an angel
Like velvet to my skin
And I wonder
Wonder why you wanna stay the night
What you're dreaming
What's behind
Don't tell me
But it feels like love"

7) "Those white lines get drawn into the sun,
If you ain't got no one,
To keep you hangin' on.
But there you were, like a queen in your nightgown,
Ridin' shotgun from town to town,
Stakin' a claim on the world we'd found.
An' I'm singing to you; your singing to me:
You were out of the blue to a boy like me."

8) "I've seen boys fall to pieces
grown men cry out for jesus, til they're black and blue
I thought god was on our side, weren't we supposed to be the good guys that
would never lose
cause I dont see no ticker tape
or five mile parades, sayin' "thank you son"
just folks that sit and judge me
who ain't seen what i've seen or did what I've done"

9) "I plan to crawl outside these walls,
Close my eyes and see.
And fall into the heart and arms,
Of those who wait for me.
I cannot move a mountain now;
I can no longer run.
I cannot be who I was then:
In a way, I never was."

10) "I'm not the kind to use a pencil or rule
I'm handy with love and I'm no fool
I fix broken hearts, I know but I truly can"

11) "Now we're back at the homestead
Where the air makes you choke
And people don't know you
And trust is a joke
We don't even have pictures
Just memories to hold
That grow sweeter each season
As we slowly grow old"

*12) "And I will love you 'til forever
Until death do us part we'll be together
So take my hand and hold on tight
And we'll get there
This I swear"

*13) "And I don't want the world to see me,
'Cause I don't think they'd understand.
When everything's made to be broken,
I just want you to know who I am."

14) "Now when you die your life goes on
It doesn’t end here when you’re gone
Every soul is filled with light
It never ends and if I’m right
Our love can even reach across eternity
I believe, Oh I believe"

15) "Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love"

*16) "Now Granny said: Sonny, stick to your guns,
"If you believe in something, no matter what,
"'Cause it's better to be hated for who you are,
"Than be loved for who you're not.
She was five feet of concrete
New York born an' raised on a slick city street.
She'd cold-stare you down, stand her ground,
Still kickin' and screamin' at 93.
I remember just how frail she looked in that hospital bed:
Takin' her last few breaths of life, smilin' as she said:"

17) "Cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold
And they'd rather give you a song then diamonds or gold
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded Levi's each night begins a new day
And if you don't understand him and he don't die young
He'll probly just ride away"

18) "I listen to our favorite song
playing on the radio
Hear the DJ say loves a game of easy come and
easy go
But I wonder does he know
Has he ever felt like this
And I know that you'd be here right now
If I could have let you know somehow
I guess"

19) "It's a measure of people who don't understand,
The pleasures of life in a hillbilly band.
I got my first guitar when I was fourteen,
And I finally made forty: still wearing jeans."

*20) "I think about the years I spent, just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost, and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan, that is coming true"
