Definitely making this show an annual event! Had a great angle on the ice, but too far away for pics or video. So many great skaters at this year's show and an amazing, intimate performance by Sheryl Crow <3
Josef Sabovcik had epic hair and killed it with his Russian splits in the opening. I was so whelmed to see Jeffrey Buttle and Ilia Kulik for the first time that I experienced Twitter failure (as usual)!
Kimmie Meissner skated after the opening group number. She has a very pretty, light style and was very cute dressed all in sparkly yellow to "I Wanna Soak Up the Sun"!
I was never a fan of Caryn Kadavy during her competitive years but she is a wonderful performer and still jumps like a pro. She always has a classy costume and beautiful style, I'm definitely a fan now!
Melissa Gregory and Dennis Petukhov were perfectly matched to their song!! They skated to "Are You Strong Enough to be My Man"! One of my favorites of the night.
First time to see Alissa Czisny live, she is so lovely!!! When she finished performing, Sheryl Crow said "That was a 10!" Her spins are just stunning. The end of the show was just Alissa in a gold sparkly dress closing it out with a spin...perfection!
Jeffrey Buttle skated to "All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun" and it was definitely a "party in that boy's pants!" Sheryl Crow and everyone else really loved his fun interpretation, he and Alissa were the best performers of the night.
I was really excited to see my long-time favorites Ekaterina Gordeeva and Ilia Kulik. Katia gave me chills skating in white dress with a sequined bodice to Sheryl's cover version of "The First Cut", she two-footed all her jumps but she is very beautiful on the ice. Ilia was awesome and flawless, can't even remember the song he skated to (I remembered--it was "There Goes the Neighborhood"), I was too starry-eyed!
Dorothy Hamill got the biggest audience reaction and is still such a lovely skater. Ryan Bradley seemed to be a bit off again this year as he was at this show last year. He did land his back flip on one foot though! Joannie Rochette was at the show and skated in the opening and finale but did not do a single number, wonder if she is injured or sick, or maybe I just spaced out for 4 minutes? Kristi Yamaguchi was in attendance as co-host and everyone wished she would have skated.
Scott tried to get his young son to come out and skate a number at the end. He was too shy, it was adorable. Scott said he did a show this summer at Sun Valley but this crowd was too big for him. Scott toned it down this year with his speeches, so it was tolerable and this show is for such a good cause, the cancer research and facilities at Cleveland Clinic. He announced a crowd number of 8500, the Quicken Loans Arena was really full. Lights, costumes and choreography were A+++
