Weekend away
I spent the weekend away in Ottawa. Travelled with my sister and two friends to an SCA event and to see the Viking Exhibit at the Canadian Museum of History. Behind us is a reconstructed ship's sail.
My favourite item at the Viking Exhibit we visited last weekend. A Viking Boat, all that was left after a thousand years are the rivets that held the wood planks together. The Time Team episode from Fetlar, Shetland Islands excavated a similar Viking boat. A woman's broach was found as well. It was thought that there had been other items in the boat, but they had been robbed many years before.
