double billing

Government of Ontario could save some money by sending only one home care RN to see a new patient. Instead, they sent a "Rapid Response" RN complete with laptop and yours truly with a semi-smart phone and a sheaf of papers. RR-RN, only visits once to see that meds are in home and patient knows about follow up appts with doctors. I on the other hand will be seeing this person until his wound is healed and his medical condition is stable. I also review meds and co-ordinate ongoing doctors' appts etc.
So not only was the health care system dinged for two visits on the same day, the poor patient had to tell both nurses all about his situation and have both nurses cover the same ground teaching re meds etc. I provide hands on care, ie more than checking pulse and BP. As this person has a large wound the visit by the RR RN wasn't much use. This happens all the time.
