First of all, happiest of birthdays, and thanks for your wishes for same. I am ONE FULL DAY OLDER than you, though I am finding it very hard to admit the true number out loud. It seems so terribly OLD, and so much older than I actually FEEL!

(I had a doctor's visit today, and he told me that the numbers say I have an overactive thyroid, but I have none of the symptoms---my hands are steady, my heart does not race, my hair is not falling out, I am not a font of nervous energy, and I would, in fact, be happy staying in bed longer but for the fact that there are Things To Do. SO perhaps numbers are not as important as they might seem. And he, happily, says, "Treat the patient, not the numbers," so is not insisting on meds.)

Good luck with the tenant situation! May you soon be rid of the current one (though NOT by getting stuck with any negative consequences!) and have found a much better replacement, one who appreciates a sane, intelligent, lovely landlady. (Or, if you MUST have an eccentric, may it be someone fun, "Mrs. Hudson"!)
