Squicked
After more than 30 years of nursing, I have finally been squicked by a situation. Woman - who looks 70+ but is just a year older than me at 58, diet appears to be beer and cigs. "fell" and injured leg, 3 weeks ago- it didn't bleed according to her- now toes are black, much else is black or past describing as TMI. I have seen similar previously, but never maggots. Oh, yes maggots. shudders - Spoke with surgeon just now- he couldn't believe that this is what the other doc said could be seen next week. He will see her Thurs am- he expects that amputation is the only option. Other doc ordered homeopathic levels of antibiotic, or as surgeon said- pissing in the wind. I just hope that the beer keeps her preserved til tomorrow.
