My weekend by the numbers

Oct 11, 2010 19:12

Dinner- left over turkey etc from Canadian Thanksgiving and hot bubble bath have brought me back to almost living. Tough weekend - on call Sunday and Monday.

Patients visits: 23

Age range: 2-90

Cause of Health Problem (some had more than one cause, ie infected wound post cancer surgery)

Cancer:  6
Infection: 4
Obesity: 2
Wear & Tear, Aging: 5
Smoking: 1
Calls to 911- 1
Scary practice sightings from notes or lack thereof, from fellow nurses, and referring doctors : far too many, shudders, I really need to learn to shrug this stuff off.

Idiot case manager incidents: 2, not counting the total failure to send orders for two patients today- must share that with hospital staff

Idiot fellow nurse actions: Male practical nurse was asked to see woman post- knee surgery- said he'd have to call and ask if it's ok for a male nurse to come? WTF The surgeon was male, it's not a gyn/breast surgery, but even if it is, I see men post-prostate surgery every day.
Kilometers driven: 660

Bottles of water drunk: 15

Yard Sales attended: 2, one twice

Bought - wooden platter, cast iron birdcage (it looked neat- no idea what I am going to do with it- but it only cost $1), two folding chairs, one curio shelf, and a travel book for France 2008 (definitely a sign)

Spent: $12

work, nursing, shopping, rl
