Over the Thanksgiving break, Mindy and I saw two movies, which I hadn't done for a long long time. I quite enjoy watching movies, it's just that with Mindy I'd rather do most anything else, cause I don't much feel like sitting next to her for 2-plus hours without talking or spending real time with her, if you understand what I'm saying. I choose Mindy over movies, any day!
So last Friday one of Mindy's best friends from high school, Julie, was back home from Tampa and came down to WC for a visit. First we went out to lunch at Iron Hill in town, then hung around the apartment for a few hours, before heading back out to KoP with April to meet their other high school friend, Heather, at the United Artists to see Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. Now, Mindy and I LOVE the D, both equally, which is amazing. The other three, not so much. But, no matter -- Mindy and I absolutely loved the movie. It was friggin' brilliant, and was almost more of a rock opera than a simple musical. I think if you don't like The D, it'll still be very funny, but if you do love them like we do, you HAVE to see this film!!
Then, a few days later, on Monday I drove with Mindy back to her home for a doctor's appointment, after which we met her mom for brunch. As we were leaving Abington, though, I noticed yet another small trail of iridescent green liquid from under my car. Which is antifreeze. Which means my car is leaking yet again, for the third time in about 6 weeks. Which means that, much to my chagrin, especially with a Mindy off from work and wanting to spend the day with her, I had to drive back to Lansdale to take it to the mechanic. At least they got to look at it right away, and it turns out the water pump they replaced 2 weeks ago or whenever already malfunctioned, so they had to replace it at no cost, at least.
So while that took them a few hours to receive the new part and install it, Christine let us borrow her Jeep to go out and waste time, rather than just sit around the house. We opted to see Borat at the Warrington Regal, which is one we definitely were planning to see, we just didn't know when. So this was a perfect opportunity, and I'm sure glad we did! You may not know this, but I was the first Ali G fan in America (that might be a tad of a stretch). Greg and I saw Ali G In Da House in Dublin when he visited me in Europe in 2002, and I've seen a few of his HBO shows here and there.
Anyway, it sounds like most folks have already seen it, but if you haven't, YOU MUST DO THIS!! It is soo funny. I think Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" character is brilliant -- along with most things he does -- and I really liked the idea of how they made the film from the beginning, and it didn't disappoint. I LOVE comedies and humor, but I usually snicker or just find things funny, and rarely do I audibly guffaw at things, unless they really set me off. Well, I did that twice during Borat, first during their overnight stay at the Jews' house, and then again during the naked fight. Sooo effing funny, you must see it!!
