FEBRUARY 8TH 2007'S RECOMMEN
LAST WEEK'S RECOMMEN (IT'S A TAD LONG).
FEBRUARY 8TH 2007
Yoko starts off by saying he had taken a day off work sometime during the week because he had gotten sick (later he mentions being too sick to play baseball...so it was probably Honjani). Apparently, this all started when he was filming for “Haikei.” It was really cold and Yoko felt a little sick but because they were in the middle of filming, he decides to tough it out. Then the producer notices Yoko’s condition and tells him to go home if he feels sick. But Yoko’s goes “I’m in the last scene no?” They all tell him it’s fine and to go home. While on his ride home, Yoko suddenly feels completely drained and feverish. He goes to the hospital and the doctor tells him his tonsils have swollen up to the extent that he wants Yoko to consider doing a surgery. But then Yoko finds out that he won’t be/can’t talk for a week after the surgery, because “I have to talk for 3 hours once every week!” and other jobs, he leaves after receiving some sort of care (really, he said the word “care” in English… medical care probably). So he wakes up the next day at 5, feeling dizzy and can’t talk. He tries to call his manager but he doesn’t answer (dude, he was probably still sleeping). When the lower manager/errandboy (he used both terms) comes to pick him up, Yoko goes “I’m so tired, what should I do? It’s fine I go, I can go, but I can’t play. What should I do?” Hina laughs at him, “make your own decisions!” So anyway, the lower manager/errandboy doesn’t do anything so Yoko calls the staff in Osaka himself who tells Yoko to rest and not come to work. So THEN, he decides to rest for the day and mails the other members.
“(In my negligence) I’ve managed to get myself sick, and have decided to rest from work today. I’m truly sorry” OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS.
Then on the show, Yoko starts rambling about how he badly mixed in honourific language and how he didn’t know what the members will say about him/this, probably that he was lying, and how he wanted to include how sorry he was. Hina’s very nice and supportive here, saying how it’s fine, you were sick, we didn’t think you were lying, we got how sorry you were.
Yoko then brings up because his cell phone can only send mass mail to 5 people, he was a bit mad that he had to rewrite his message again to the 6th person…Yasu. HAHAHAHA.
Hina : Why didn’t you just change the mail address?
Yoko : I… already deleted the message.
Then Yoko gets mail back from Subaru.
”It’s totally fine, we’ll all follow up (compensate for you)”
Yoko : It was around 9, probably before you guys started filming…I felt like crying (because of what Subaru wrote).
Hina : HAHAHAHAHAAAAHHAAAHAHHHAAAA…you were that weak huh?
Yoko : Very weak, I thought I was going to die…
Hina : You gave up really quick eh?
Yoko : My body temperature was 38.5°C
Hina : You can’t die from that!
Yoko : The whole time, I was thinking if I died, who’s going to cry (for me).
Hina : Hahaha, that’s a bit dark/gloomy.
Yoko : I’ve caused inconvenience, really.
Hina : Nonono, it was all right. The mail really came before 6.

Hina : I was really surprised.
Yoko : That was on purpose. I didn’t want you guys to think I was out playing the day/night before…

Yoko : Maddening eh? That’s why I got up at 5…

RECOMMEN GIRLS’ RANKING! : Top 5 presents you want to give along with chocolates for Valentines’ Day.
They usually read out what why certain listeners picked what they did, but this time it was just Yoko commenting on each item.

Yoko’s not that happy with receiving stuff people made because he associates them with his mom’s bad cooking. To Yoko, homemade stuff = BAD. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH.

Yoko’s using the “Hakei” staff phone strap right now. He didn’t want to use it at first, but then because Nino’s using it… there’s a bit of pause and he blames his sickness for making him blurt out how he didn’t want to use the strap cause some of the staff are probably listening right now.

Yoko and Hina both really like this one and keep saying how nice it is. Besides fan letters, they’re also really happy when they get memos from the staff cheering them on.
SO! Tonight’s main project : Country wide chocolate investigation!
Basically, it’s a game between Yoko and Hina. They talk to listeners for a bit, are allowed to ask them one specific question, then try to guess how much/many chocolates she’s giving on Valentines’ Day. Whoever guesses closest wins that round. They do this a whole bunch of time, and tally up the scores. Whoever loses has to listen to K Taro’s sweet talk (I’m not sure if…they say 甘い話 but then it’s just K Taro rambling about buying a mini skirt for his girlfriend…I think)…so I’m guessing sickening sweet talk? Anyway, the loser can’t just sit and listen/zone out, he has to talk too. HAH!
First Caller : she’s 18, doesn’t have someone she likes at the moment, didn’t give anyone chocolate last year.
Hina thinks : 2
Yoko guesses : 6

Because the listener goes to an all girl school and can’t meet any boys from there, she doesn’t have a “favourite” (the one you give to someone you really like) chocolate to give, and Yoko goes into his love-expert mode.

WinkUp Project thing : They start flipping through the magazine and talk about their article in it… and laugh about Ronaldinho (this soccer player) also being in it. Then because a couple weeks ago they joked about Recommen coming out with a book, and someone from WinkUp is at the studio that night, the talk turns into basically begging WinkUp staff to make a Recommen book. They go on about how many copies it would sell…and when they don’t’ any answers back, Yoko calls them WinkDown. And Hina adds that there’ll probably be a lot of fans falling the magazine that name now.

1) Yamashita’s new drama.
Yoko had said on the show before how he was going to star in a Monday 9 o’clock drama (that’s the prime TV slot I think), and Hina bugs Yoko about that promise and…
Yoko : Wow, (Yamashita) starring in Monday9…
Hina : Now, what about Yokoyama?
Yoko : Haha, I’ve been turned down.
Hina : Hahahaha, you were turned down huh?

On Recommen, Yoko came up with it when they were brainstorming for a new “heading” for the group because they were sick of being called just “the funny Kanjani” or “ the Kansai people Kanjani” and he just ripped it off that thing about Koda Kumi. Long story short, Kanjani is omorokakkoi (funny+goodlooking), and the media has also started using this to describe the group. YAY!]
Anyway, before I rambled off…they were talking to this girl and asked her why she liked Kanjani and she said because they were all funny and goodlooking.
Yoko: Is Yasu funny? HAHAHAHA, I HAD A FEELING HE WAS GOING TO ASK THIS.

Yoko went to see SHOCK that day. V6’s Innochi was there too and sat beside Yoko. After the show, they both visited Koichi’s dressing room. Innochi and Koichi started talking to each other about how they had agreed to go out and eat together last year but it never happened because they were both so busy. Koichi says (to Innochi), “Let’s definitely go this year!” Innochi sees Yoko standing there and says (to Yoko) “You’ll have to come too.” Koichi laughs at this, but reassures Yoko that he wants him to go too. Yoko adds that it was like watching a TV show, seeing V6 and Kinki talking together.
Back to the game :

Hina : Do you go to a girls’ school? Boys’ school?
Listener : Co-ed school, hahaha.
Yoko : (To Hina) Are you stupid?! Of course it can’t be a boys’ school!
Anyway, Hina loses the whole game, quite badly too. During the whole punishment game, as K Taro’s rambling on, Hina frantically keeps calling out to Yoko while listening/talking to K Taro…

I'm surprised at how much I understood this time...cause give or take a couple of phone calls and shorter segments, that was pretty much the whole show.

Hina loses again. The girl is a big Kanjani fan and when Yoko+Hina ask her what she likes about them, she says “Everyone’s funny and good-looking”
Hina: Ahhh, omorokakkoi…so we’re really sticking with this omorokakkoi thing huh?
[NOTE : You know that thing with Koda Kumi, how she’s ero-kawaii (eroticallycute)? Well, I forgot where it started from…ah! On Recommen, Yoko came up with it when they were brainstorming for a new “heading” for the group because they were sick of being called just “the funny Kanjani” or “ the Kansai people Kanjani” and he just ripped it off that thing about Koda Kumi. Long story short, Kanjani is omorokakkoi (funny+goodlooking), and the media has also started using this to describe the group. YAY!]
Anyway, before I rambled off…they were talking to this girl and asked her why she liked Kanjani and she said because they were all funny and goodlooking.
Yoko: Is Yasu funny? HAHAHAHA, I HAD A FEELING HE WAS GOING TO ASK THIS.
Listener : …but Yasu’s cute.
Hina : Haha, ‘but’ she said.
Yoko : Is he funny though? Even though you think he’s good looking.
Listener : But, he’s cute and good looking.
Hina : Hahahaahahahah ‘but’ again!
Yoko : Hah…I guess Yasu’s cutelygoodlooking (kawaiikakkoi) then.

[NOTE: Konbonwantsu= goodevening + onetwo! (as in one two punch) - a saying Yoko made up for the New Word poll/rank that they have in every year Japan, he’s been pushing this for a couple of years now…ah! They even had it in ObachanRock = Konnichiwantsu! hoping that’ll help spread the word out but alas…the saying didn’t make it, they even did a whole Recommen last year on ‘the road to defeat’ where Yoko basically went through the list of words that did make it in and complained how he’s never heard of any of them. HHAHAAH.]

Listener : (giggling)
Yoko : Why are you laughing?
Listener : I really like you guys/I'm a big fan.
Yoko : Wha?
Hina : You’re nervous?
Listener : Yes
Yoko : Who (which one of us) do you like?
Listener : Yokoyama and Murakami.
Yoko : Which one do you like?
Listener : Eh?! Uhh…I really like….
Yoko+Hina : WHICH ONE?

Yoko : (miffed) Now why didn’t you just say that you like Hina from the beginning?
Hina : Don’t mind the old man, he’s easily hurt by stuff like this.
SHOCK Talk
Yoko went to see SHOCK that day. V6’s Innochi was there too and sat beside Yoko. After the show, they both visited Koichi’s dressing room. Innochi and Koichi started talking to each other about how they had agreed to go out and eat together last year but it never happened because they were both so busy. Koichi says (to Innochi), “Let’s definitely go this year!” Innochi sees Yoko standing there and says (to Yoko) “You’ll have to come too.” Koichi laughs at this, but reassures Yoko that he wants him to go too. Yoko adds that it was like watching a TV show, seeing V6 and Kinki talking together.
Back to the game :
16 year old listener
Hina : Do you go to a girls’ school? Boys’ school?
Listener : Co-ed school, hahaha.
Yoko : (To Hina) Are you stupid?! Of course it can’t be a boys’ school!
Anyway, Hina loses the whole game, quite badly too. During the whole punishment game, as K Taro’s rambling on, Hina frantically keeps calling out to Yoko while listening/talking to K Taro…
Hina : Yoko….uhn…Yoko…I see….Yoko!
Yoko : What? We’re in the middle of the punishment game.
Hina : Come on, isn’t this enough?
Yoko : …It can’t be helped.
Afterwards, Yoko tells K Taro that he’s more boring than Yasu. And Hina adds that Yasu is the bobby prize in Osaka. They make fun of K Taro some more….aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanddd it’s over.
I'm surprised at how much I understood this time...cause give or take a couple of phone calls and shorter segments, that was pretty much the whole show.
