Titles: Oblivion - Meeting - Homecoming
Author: VelvetMouse
Rated: G
Pairing: Giles-centric, vague Willow/Draco
Challenge: Family Gatherings
Disclaimer: Not mine. So sad.
A/N: Series of three drabbles, a family gathering of a slightly different nature. I guess they come down on the het side, although the 'ship isn't the main focus. These didn't really come out as I hoped, and they're a bit rough, but here they are anyway...

He had nowhere to go. Not a pleasant reality, but reality nonetheless.

Giles reached for the vodka, preparing to drink his Christmas Eve into oblivion, when he heard two loud pops. He looked up through bleary eyes to see Willow and - it couldn’t be -

“Professor McGonagall?”

“Stand up at once, Mr. Giles, and pull yourself together,” the witch said severely as Willow stiffled a grin.

“Minerva and I decided that we weren’t going to let you drink another holiday away,” the red-head said. “Besides, it’s time you met Draco.”

“Come home to Hogwarts, Rupert,” Minerva McGonagall said kindly. “We’ve missed you.”

Giles was rattled from the apparition and stumbled on the path leading up to Hogwarts. A strong, male hand caught him.

“Careful there, sir,” the man said and then stuck his hand out. “I’m Draco Malfoy.”

“Rupert Giles.” He studied the young blonde next to him. “Lucius’s son?” he asked warily.

Draco made a face. “Unfortunately.”

Giles relaxed slightly. Then he saw Willow beaming. For her sake he’d try to like this young man.

They proceeded up the path and Giles gasped at his first site of the castle in almost 30 years.

Draco grinned at him. “Welcome home, sir.”

--------------------

He thought he didn’t have anywhere to go for the holidays.

His parents were dead. The Watcher’s council, his adoptive, dysfunctional, family had gotten themselves blown up. Even his children had lives of their own. Buffy and Faith had their school to run, with them, Dawn and Xander. Even Willow had her own new school to teach at - and, it seemed, a new boyfriend.

But then Willow had reminded him that once you went to Hogwarts, you never stopped being part of that family.

Dear old Hogwarts, home of wanderers, strays and wizards that go bump in the night. Home.
