Not sure if I'll get another few done or not, but I thought I'd go ahead and post these now.

Eomer was looking at her like this should be a difficult decision, but it really wasn’t.
“Yes.”
One simple word, clearly not the one he’d expected. He’d never understood. It might not be where she was born, but Rohan is the closest to home she’s been since she was called. Here she is safe, here she is loved. Here she is allowed to be just herself, with no one expecting more. They’ve never demanded anything of her.
Which is why this fight is hers, and she will win or die. Either way, the darkness will fear her before she’s done.

Having dealt with all the easy topics, the meeting finally got around to the most serious item. All eyes turned to Dawn, who as usual, had the unenviable task of delivering the bad news to her sister. On the bright side, she had collected a ridiculous number of favors from the other cabins in return- Cabin Two would not be doing chores anytime soon.
“Right, Buffy, the reason everyone’s gone quiet and is trying not to back away, is that your boyfriend’s gone missing, and we don’t think it was his idea. Smart money is on Gaea being behind it.”
She watched the rest of the counselors eye Buffy the way they would a Cabin Six booby trap.
Buffy frowned. The room held its collective breath.
“You’re telling me the reason Thanatos has not called me in three weeks is because some stupid skank of a goddess has abducted him?”
Xander was smirking at her tone, and Piper looked smug. Buffy turned to Annabeth, who raised an expectant eyebrow.
“You wanted to know what effect a Slayer would have on those giants? You’ll probably get your wish. Me, I’d like to find out what effect a Slayer has on Gaea.”

Xander did his best to blend into the background. He felt so awkward and out of place, even though Caitlin’s adoptive parents had hugged him and told him tearfully she would have been so happy he was here.
He hadn’t found out about his older sister until after his parents’ death. Jessica’s safe deposit box had been held in Oxnard. Their wills and a copy of the court decree terminating Anthony and Jessica Harris’ parental rights had been the box.
It hadn’t been too difficult to locate her- he was her sibling, he had her birthdate, and the date his parents had lost her. Turned out Mom’s drinking problem used to be a lot worse- she’d been in the system since birth. His parents could have found her anytime after she’d turned eighteen, if they’d wanted.
He’d been nervous about contacting her. He had no idea what she knew about her birth family. He’d written to her first, then called when she’d indicated that would be ok. It had gone well. She’d sounded nice. He’d made her laugh. They’d arranged to meet in person in DC today.
Instead, he attended her funeral, face to face only for a final farewell.
