Colonel Sheppard sighed. The new guy seemed okay but he just didn't really seem to have a purpose. He wasn't a soldier, nor a scientist but he had accompanied one of the 'Slayers' through to the Pegasus Galaxy. He was called a Watcher but so far, the only thing that Sheppard saw him watching was bad horror movies... not that he minded but it didn't justify his presence here.
“Colonel!”
“Yes Xander,” Sheppard replied while waiting for the new guy to approach.
“I'm going to get Ronon to watch Dracula, want in?”
“Lugosi or Coleman?” he asked.
“Both!” Xander replied.

“Gah, Xander! Can't you ever be serious? If I don't get this shield working again, the Wraith will succeed in it's attack,” McKay yelled as he pushed buttons on his tablet to try and comprehend the sudden loss of power to the shield.
“A conclusion is simply the place where you got tired of thinking,” Xander replied wisely, while nodding his head.
“What the? Colonel can you get Xander away from me?” McKay complained.
“What did you do this time Xander?” Sheppard asked warily.
“Trying to motivate him with fortune cookie fortunes,” Xander said with a grin. “Works every time.”

“So what is it you actually do in your job as a Watcher?” Woolsey prodded.
“What's it to you?” Xander asked suspiciously.
“The IOA needs to know who is exactly on Atlantis at all times, and what their jobs entail,” Woolsey tried to explain.
“Well my job is to Watch,” Xander said with a smile. He had promised Sheppard he would work on irritating the IOA. It seemed to be going better than expected considering the frown on Woolsey's face.
“And to train one of the people on board Atlantis.”
“Who's that?” Woolsey asked.
“No one of consequence to you.”

Xander couldn't believe it. So far from home and he was STILL the demon magnet. To borrow a phrase from the Major General who had wished him well on the trip, 'For crying out loud.'
If anyone was to lust after him, why couldn't it have been Teyla? Or maybe Dr Keller? But no, here he was being chased by a Wraith Queen of all creatures. Not to torture, but because she had become attracted to him when he had been in her holding cell. If only the others could see him now, they would be laughing up a storm.

“So these Wraith are what...?” Xander asked after landing in Athos.
“Creatures of my people's nightmares,” Teyla explained to the strange man. She had welcomed him to their community when she had found him wandering in the forest. So far he had proved helpful with his skills in woodwork.
“How so?” he prodded.
She explained to him about the Wraith and the devastation caused by the culling.
“Space vampires, cool. I can work with that,” he said with a nod. “Where I come from, I deal with vampires of a different kind. But I can adapt.”
“You will... fight?”
“Yes.”

When his body fell to the floor in the control room of Atlantis, the medical teams rushed to his side. They whisked him away once security had given the all clear that he didn't seem dangerous. The whole time, he hadn't awoken.
When Xander finally opened his eyes, he was looking at a rather futuristic infirmary instead of the familiar surrounds of the Council.
“When did Dawnie figure out how to send portals through time?” he asked himself. The people who came quickly over to him seemed human.
“What year is it?” he asked, knowing he wouldn't like the answer.

Xander watched from his hiding place as Michael continued to call for Teyla to bring her son to him. She was protecting him at the cost of her dear friends but they were willing sacrifices to keep her son safe. The team at Atlantis had strong family values. Even at the cost of their own lives.
He however, was a Scooby. Scooby's didn't hide away when any family members were threatened. They fought for them, hard. Lining up the scope of his gun, Xander was prepared to end it to save Teyla and the others. It was for the best.

Xander had been warned of these people, and so he hid while the Genii plundered the village of anything of value. They lied and cheated, and now he could see that they would steal everything that had a potential worth. And what for, to frame Atlantis once again. But not this time.
He had brought on this trip with him one deadly Slayer who could knock people out like the best of them and he let her loose. When the villagers returned, they would know who had robbed them. And he wouldn't care how they dealt with them after that.

“So what do you do to relax on Atlantis?” Xander asked Sheppard.
“Watch a few movies, talk to my team... why?”
“Well, O'Neill liked to go fishing, Carter works on her bike... McKay rebuilds technology as a hobby. I was wondering what you did.”
“Well besides movies, when I'm back on Earth I watch football.”
“Cool. So next time we're on planet... did you want to catch a game with me?” Xander asked. “Oh, god... that sounded like a date. Not that you're not a good looking guy... but damnit!”
“Shut up Xander. I'll go with you... as a friend.”

Xander smiled at the emergency rations that Willow had sent him. He could always rely on his bestest best friend to send him junk food emergency rations. Twinkies and all kinds of cakes. But this time there was an additional package. There was a card attached.
'Xan,
For Sam from Jack.
Willow'
He took the package and headed up to the Colonel's office. Knocking briefly on the door, he entered and handed her the package. She opened it slowly and then smiled.
“So, what is it?”
“Jello. All different colors,” she replied with a big grin. “It's our favorite treat.”
