------------------------------------------
At Wash’s seventeenth birthday, he eagerly waited for the package that should be arriving any minute. Wash knew that his uncle would come home with it once he finished work at the post office. But his uncle came home without a package. He told Wash not to worry about it, that maybe it got sent to the wrong place and he’d keep an eye out for it. Wash tried not to let the fact that he must have forgotten him, affect his birthday but in the back of his head all he was thinking was how could Xan have forgotten his birthday. Xan never forgot anything.
Xan had been his babysitter for as long as he could remember up until five years ago when he said that he had to go. Besides by then Wash was too old to have a babysitter. But still Xan always remembered his birthday and sent him a package.
Three days later Wash opened his front door and found a package on the step. It had his name and the hand writing looked like Xan’s. Wash quickly opened the package and smiled at his present and the note that came with it.
Spike the pterodactyl.
