For those of you who missed this when China posted it...
Our first day of Korean school was full of sense-making awesome. I totally fail at pronouncing it, but Hangul may very well supplant the Japanese phonetic system as (le gasp!) the most logical written language system that I know (yes, I not only keep track, but on occasion I actually talk to people about this stuff, haha). LETTERS THAT LOOK THE SAME ACTUALLY SOUND THE SAME. OH MAN. Our teacher kept talking about that, and how the shapes were easy (no 'swirly' or 'loopy' letters, gee, whose written language could she be talking about?). They really are, by themselves anyway...getting them to fit next to each other in little squares is something else entirely. ^_^;;; But then, my handwriting sucks in any language.
I'm super excited to learn about how it was created, too. She makes it sound like it was really deliberately invented, which would be neat to hear about. I mean, I guess hiragana and katakana were too, but it feels different somehow. Anyway, we'll see.
Our teacher is small and cute (in the adorable kind of way - no worries, kiddo) and has obviously taken a lot of linguistics classes, because she can talk about all that aspirated-sound/tongue-on-your-upper-palette stuff the I totally forgot because I was way more interested in the child-development/student-psychology bits. WOO.
I made flashcards this morning, which is made of strange nostalgic awesome.
AND THAT ABOUT WRAPS IT UP~
...Whilst I'm here, though.
04/12: Went to Aunt Gwen's, got there a little early and decided to see what happened if I just kept driving for a little bit. Bonus! I ended up in the Angeles Forest. I had no idea that was even over there. Or even existed >_> It's really pretty, though, and has a bike trail - OMFG WE SHOULD SO TOTALLY GO. Except I don't have a bike. HAHAHA. Oh well~ It's a nice thought.
04/13: IVY! ...Where? Why? I have no idea, because I'm still backlogging these, hardcore. HAHAHA~ (Again with the crazy laugh -_-;;; )
04/14: Church of the Circus! (It's so D.gray-man!) Haha, I guess it was getting fumigated or something. But it's hilarious nonetheless. ^_____^;;;
04/15: Dr. Crusher, part one. If only I'd known what a saga of pain and frustration those Star Trek uniforms were going to be. BUT IN THE END, I TRIUMPHED. OHOHO. (Different crazy laugh this time.)
04/16: My picture of me for April! (Did I have one in March?) I got my hair cut WAY shorter than I usually keep it, mainly because --- yes --- I wanted to wear those goggles. And my other haircut looked stupid with goggles.
DORK BADGE GET!
See my messy car? It's usually worse than that...poor Kimmy/Rocinante.
04/17: Picked up
epiic for lunch and then tried (completely and totally unsuccessfully) to stalk the cast of CSI: New York around Century City. Still, I've never been over there --- it's really neat! There was no place to park even remotely NEAR the lot where it looked like they were taping, which was probably on purpose, but anyway, we had fun (or I had fun, and sincerely hope
epiic did too, haha~).
04/18: The Church of Glad Tidings had up a really good contender for Best Sign Ever. Haha~
