TIPS- On Jessica's Magic
This is just me explaining stuff to people who aren't familiar with the Umineko canon haha. SPOILERS.
Anyway! In Umineko, Jessica has demonstrated an ability to use magic on two separate in occasions. The plot of Umineko centers on a two-day time loop of sorts, with two days occuring over and over again- although, like in Higurashi, it would be more accurate to say that every "time loop" and each two days we are shown in every game is just different worlds where the same basic thing happens in different ways and circumstances. Anyway, that's why Jessica won't remember the first occasion, since she is from EP6.
These quotes from the game explain the first occasion best- from her fight with Ronove;
"It was a certain determination that would be merciless to anyone who wished to fight any more, and force them to prepare for a significant counterattack.
Certain determination...becomes magic.
Ronove had been accurately blocking Jessica's fists with the shield. ......But something felt odd.
Even though he was certainly catching them on the shield, he felt his arm get jarred, and it hurt.
It should prevent all physical damage.
......However, the damage from her fists was gradually being transmitted to his arm, piling up.
Ronove acted like he was composed, so that this wouldn't be noticed...
JESSICA:"Heh, hehe...!! I'm not gonna get worn out. What's wrong, old guy? Starting to get a little tough...?!"
RONOVE:"......No matter how much you attack, it is useless. Why can't you understand that you cannot break my shield?"
JESSICA: "I'm not gonna stop hitting you just because it won't break. .........No matter how hard someone's heart is, if they hear a few words at a time, eventually some of those will slip in through the cracks...! I believe it!! I believe that useless effort doesn't exist in this world!! That's why I can live, to the fullest!! If words will eventually make it through, then the same goes for fists...!! 'Give up' isn't written anywhere in my dictionary!!"

Kanon, who had seemed to reject Jessica's words.
......But Jessica knew that, no matter how resolute his heart was, those words would eventually soak through.
And she believed that surely, they would reach his heart, and the day would come when he stopped calling himself furniture and disparaging himself, ......and that he would step out into his new life.
So Jessica didn't give up. She didn't lose heart...!
JESSICA:"Isn't it stupid? I'll bet a guy couldn't understand, right? A girl in love doesn't even think about giving up just because it's useless!!"
At that time, Ronove certainly saw.
He saw the reddish glow of light that encircled Jessica's fists.

From a demon's perspective, that was magic.

JESSICA:"See? Nothing useless about it. ...Looks like my fists are making it through. Guard your arm, old guy."
RONOVE:"............It seems I will have to get a little more serious. ...It appears it is as you said. ......In this world, nothing is useless."
JESSICA:"That's right...! If you give up because something's useless, that's when your life ends...! It'll work. Definitely...!!"
I'm an idiot, so this is the only way I can live, but even so, ......I believe I can definitely teach Kanon-kun, about a new world, eventually!! So I'm not gonna lose heart in a place like this...!! I'll definitely defeat you, and save everyone!!"

JESSICA:".........What's wrong?! Starting to get tired?! You're getting all slow!!"
RONOVE:"No. Your movements and thoughts and kinetic vision have been rapidly enchanted. .........My movements have not changed from the beginning. ......Your movements are beginning to capture me."
JESSICA:"And you still won't fight back...?!!"
RONOVE:"This is my style. ......However, I cannot allow it to continue at this rate. It's about time for me to get serious and end this......!!"
Ronove's face turned into an expression he hadn't shown before.
It was full of respect for Jessica in a truly demonic way.
Because it was an expression he only showed for enemies who made him get serious.
JESSICA:"Whooaa?!?! What the?!"
With a gesture of his whole body that you couldn't call elegant, Ronove held out a shield with all his strength...a shield the size and thickness of a wall.
It was more tenacious than a simple shield.
It was literally a wall.
And on top of that, with all of Ronove's magical power, it pushed Jessica back bit by bit.
......Did he plan on pushing her back against the wall and crushing her to death?
Jessica tried to break through the wall with both fists, but it was solid. ......Without any exaggeration, it was solid!
JESSICA:"Is this what you call serious...?!! No problem, I'll break right through iiiiiiiiiiitt!!"
RONOVE:"I will not let you this time. This wall is somewhat different. ......Here, allow me to enchant it as well."
When Ronove made a magic sign almost like a ninja, the wall glowed red for just an instant, and some kind of ominous power dwelt within it.
Jessica was able to realize that almost immediately with her body.
Every time her fists hit the wall, pain as though glass fragments had scattered and hit all over her body rebounded against her.
RONOVE:"I upgraded it with attack-reactive armor. An exceptional item which will decrease the force of your attacks by counterbalancing them, and can even counterattack with reactive fragments.
......It's perfectly fine to keep punching it, but doing so will affect you as well."
JESSICA:"Heh, ...heheh!! In short, it's an endurance test between me and your wall?!! No problem!!"
RONOVE:"Will you fall to your knees first, or be pushed into the wall first? ......Allow me to observe."
JESSICA:"Except I might break through it and smash that whole wall along with your face, right?! Watch iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!"
Without hesitation, Jessica punched using both fists. Each time she did, a large amount of shards scattered, torturing her entire body.
Instantly, several red gashes appeared all over her body...
She grimaced at the intense pain, but her eyes were burning with fighting spirit, and her lips curved in a grin exactly the opposite of the pain...!"
LATER;
"Jessica had finally been cornered with the wall at her back.
......Ronove advanced with his magic circle wall bit by bit, and would probably crush her against the other wall eventually.
Considering the distance, she threw out her fists... This would be the final strike.
Jessica had dealt out many punches so far.
......The wall wasn't invincible.
It had already started to crack, and it wouldn't be strange for it to smash at any moment.
However, due to the rebounding damage, Jessica also had cuts all over her body, and was all worn out.
RONOVE:"......Just put a stop to this. I don't intend to crush you. It is up to the Master to decide how to deal with you. ......However, I also intend to give you a special congratulation for your good fight."
JESSICA:"Q, .........quit fucking a, ......around.........Not yet...... It isn't, ......over yet........."

RONOVE:"I am warning you. Stop this now. That is for your own sake."
JESSICA:"Don't bluff. Your wall is already about to break, right...? I can tell by its feel after punching it so much, you see..........?"
RONOVE:"....................." That was a fact. Ronove's wall was already on the verge of breaking.
And on top of that, Jessica's fists had been imbued with an unimaginable magical attack power by now, and their destructive power defied the imagination.
......In the worst case, that destructive power might even pierce the defensive wall, smash Ronove as well, and create an expansion connecting this room to the next.
......However, that damage would rebound on Jessica as well. She wouldn't escape unharmed
!RONOVE:"I will say it just one more time. Stop. I say this out of consideration for you!"
JESSICA:"Shut the fuck up...............Prepare yourself."
Jessica howled.
......Putting all the strength of her greatest and final destructive power into her fist, she roared......"
Simply put- on this scene, Jessica fights with Ronove, who puts up a magical shield to protect himself. To fight him, Jessica uses her brass knuckles and tries to break through his shield. Although normally human weapons shouldn't be able to fight against magic, Jessica manages through sheer determination slowly break through his shield- that determination becomes magic, and she enchants her brass knuckles with various upgrades, as said above. This is what I call her Magic of Determination.
And then there's EP6...
In episode six, this is taken to extremes. During the trial of love, Jessica has to kill a person- in this case, her aunt Kyrie. I'll let these quotes from the game itself explain again- this is what happens when Jessica tries to attack Kyrie;
"Kyrie dodged the punch, placed her hand against that fist, and slammed it against the wall.
Normally, Jessica would have hurt her hand on the wall and rolled around clutching at it in pain...
However, Jessica's fist had left what looked like a meter-wide crater in the wall.
Instead of a look of anguish after smashing her fist against the wall, Jessica clicked her tongue in irritation at having missed...
KYRIE:"......Incredible. I see that you are your father's daughter. Have you taken up boxing too...?"
Impossible... Jessica is barehanded.
She isn't holding any sort of weapon at all...!
If that punch had hit, her head probably would have split open like Jessica had said, killing her without any pain.
JESSICA:"Here I go........."
KYRIE:".........!!!"
If Kyrie's kick off the ground and leap backward had been an instant slower, her gut would probably have been pulverized.
Though she had avoided it by a hair, Jessica's left body blow was followed by a terrible tornado-like gust of wind, which blew Kyrie back."
"This Jessica looked like the normal Jessica, but something was different...!
It wasn't human, and common sense didn't apply to it!
This is probably......some kind of nightmare...!!
Kyrie slowly stood up.
Then, she looked at Jessica, noticed the several meters between them...and realized just how far that blast of wind had sent her flying.
The scene around Jessica seemed to bend like a heat wave.
It seemed to be enshrouding her fists. ......And, it seemed as though something like a red magic circle had appeared beneath her feet.
It looked just like a western demon standing amidst the flames of hell.
JESSICA:"...Flame upgrade. ......Mass upgrade. ......Armor-piercing upgrade."
Each time Jessica muttered, her fists were surrounded by a pulsating, sinister, red light.
......Those fists, which were even smoking, surely represented......the iron hammers of hell wielded by demons...
Kyrie dashed away with lightning speed.
JESSICA:"......Ronove."
When Jessica muttered once more, a blood-red magical barrier cut across the corridor.
Kyrie slammed into it hard and realized that her path of escape had been cut off."
JESSICA:"......Yes, this is a nightmare............If you want, I'll wake you up right now. ......Just one strike... Don't move......"
Wielding her flames, Jessica slowly stepped forward towards her...
Each time her foot lifted off the floor......a boiling steam hung around her footprint...
JESSICA:"Ack......gghaagh............??"
Jessica's neck was twisted at an odd angle, ......and she staggered backwards, her eyes white, as though she didn't have a clue what had just happened.
In her forehead......a demon stake was buried at an angle.
It pulled itself out of her, spun around, then became Leviathan and landed.
The hole left behind in Jessica's head spewed blood.
LEVIATHAN:"Leviathan of Envy, right here......!"
KYRIE:"If this is inside a nightmare anyway, ......why not have the friend that shows up in my nightmares? My friend from the hell of envy. Thanks for showing up just in the nick of time."
LEVIATHAN:"......It's too early to thank me. She's......not down yet...!!"
JESSICA:"......Gah.........gah......"
Even though she had taken a deep gouge to the top of the head, ......Jessica just stood there, convulsing and white-eyed, and didn't fall over.
The blood stopped pouring out of her forehead, ......and her blank, doll-like eyes returned.
Then, she slowly pressed her own hand against the wound in her forehead. ......There was a *sizzle*, as though she had pressed a hot iron against it.
It was easy to imagine that she was doing this to seal up the wound.
If Kyrie didn't escape now, there would never be another chance...!
KYRIE:"Can I defeat her...?!"
LEVI:"No such luck. ......She's immortal, thanks to a contract with one of the great demons...!"
ZEPAR:"That is because of love!! That is why she is immortal!!"
FURFUR:"Yes, love is magnificent! Those with our blessings cannot be killed!!"

With dim eyes, Jessica tilted her head upon hearing Kyrie's words.
JESSICA:"............What are you talking about...? ......How will such a small room...be able to protect you, Oba-san...?"
KYRIE:"This room may be a closed room. It may leave us with no method of escape. However, even you can't break into this room. That's what a closed room is!"

Jessica wearily looked between her own burning fists and the door with a confused expression on her face.
Then, slowly, ......she sent that pulsating, red light to her fists......
She repeatedly enchanted her fists to give them the destructive power for the killing blow.
JESSICA:"......I'll smash this door to bits........."
Understand? What happens here is that Jessica makes contracts with Ronove, Zepar and Furfur, thus turning her into a demonic being. She becomes immortal and very powerful, as seen in the quotes above- it's pretty much what happens when you take her magic power in EP4 and multiply it 546437587 times. In the game, her sprite also changes- her eyes turn grey with slitted pupils, and her personality changes a bit, as well- not her speaking style. All the pauses and "......." and the stoic and the way her tone lacks emotion- this is, I think, to represent that Jessica had to harden her heart and become a demon to do the deed and kill an innocent human.
So what does this mean? She only has these powers and abilities in her demon form, which she'll have to regain eventually- when she does, she will be able to change into it at will, but I think that she won't do this unless there's a very good reason. She'll have to regain her normal magic first.

Understand? What happens here is that Jessica makes contracts with Ronove, Zepar and Furfur, thus turning her into a demonic being. She becomes immortal and very powerful, as seen in the quotes above- it's pretty much what happens when you take her magic power in EP4 and multiply it 546437587 times. In the game, her sprite also changes- her eyes turn grey with slitted pupils, and her personality changes a bit, as well- not her speaking style. All the pauses and "......." and the stoic and the way her tone lacks emotion- this is, I think, to represent that Jessica had to harden her heart and become a demon to do the deed and kill an innocent human.
So what does this mean? She only has these powers and abilities in her demon form, which she'll have to regain eventually- when she does, she will be able to change into it at will, but I think that she won't do this unless there's a very good reason. She'll have to regain her normal magic first.
