I've been sick for over a week, but I should've broken down and got ぬれマスク long ago and saved myself a lot of trouble. If you guys don't know ぬれマスク, it is this awesome mask that you put these 2 little sponge-like pieces into, and you can breathe deliciously moisturized air (with soothing herbs, if you prefer) for hours! It is really great for when you can't breathe through your nose, especially during the night. It totally allowed me to get a good night's sleep last night, and when I woke up, not only were my lips not chapped at all, I could actually breathe through my nose.
It also helped me back in the winter when my nose was really irritated and dry for some reason. I don't know what the problem was, but I couldn't stop sneezing. But I put the mask on and felt much better. Wearing the mask outside also helps to keep out the cold air.
Also, I just got a phone call saying that a future student of mine - someone I have never met - has brought me a cake. Apparently, this lady makes one for each of the teachers (who work at one of my part-time job offices) twice a year.
Wow. That's amazing. Free cake! I wonder if she made it or bought it. Either way, like the teacher next to me said, she must have a lot of time and a lot of money. The only thing is, 1) apparently it needs to be eaten by tomorrow 2) I'm going to Yokohama tonight, and 3) I have no space to put cake (or anything else) in my tiny dorm fridge.
So I'm thinking I'll go by the office on my way to the train station, with some cold packs and/or dry ice and just bring the cake with me to Yokohama.
Just another crazy day in the life here in Japan.
