This Saturday I went up to Yokohama and we went out for a fun White Day date. It was a beautiful sunny day and warm, but very windy.

First we went to 元町 中華街 (Chinatown), where we ate gyoza at a stall. I had 焼き餃子 and those round dumpling things. (I know it's blasphemy, but my favorite are still the 生餃子 you can get at the grocery store.) T got a menchi katsu burger, which for some reason came in an interesting black bun.

I wish I had gotten a picture of the menu, which said メンチカツ パーカー instead of バーガー. w

Afterwards, we walked around 山下公園 (Yamashita Park). Although the weather was beautiful, it wasn't that crowded. That's one of the great things about Yokohama.

There were seagulls in the water and everywhere. Even they looked clean and pretty in the bright sunlight.

Then we walked over to 大さん橋 to take an hour and a half cruise out on the harbor. They're having a special for people from Kanagawa right now, so we both got to ride for free. :D The name of the boat was the Royal Wing.

Our seats were outside on the sun deck, but we got to sit down and were relatively out of the wind, so it was nice and relaxing. Sometimes you could feel the sea spray, but we were pretty high up and the sunshine was nice and warm. We went way out under the bridge and everything. On the boat, we ran into T's co-worker and her husband. They took our picture, but it was so windy my hair was sticking straight up. ^^;

Then we walked to World Porters (a shopping area) for some tapioca milk tea. (There was a lot of walking that day, as is often the case in Japan. When I looked at my pedometer that evening, it had counted over 16,000 steps. That's about 4 times as much as I normally get!) We were supposed to go to Landmark Tower from there, but it was almost sunset, so we decided to just hang around World Porters instead. We ended up resting on this couch (and trying not to fall asleep) until just before dinner.

Dinner was at this (fancy!) French restaurant in the building. We were seated in front of a wall of windows overlooking the bay and the view at night was beautiful~ The food was also very high class: one of the courses was foie gras, which I don't think I've had before. Delicious! :9

The picture is kind of backlit, but here's T at the restaurant, holding a big Rilakkuma which we (he) won at a game center in the building.

After dinner, we decided to ride the Ferris Wheel in Minato Mirai. We had never been up there before, but we weren't sure if they were letting people ride it that day because of the high winds. But we got on no problem. There was even a 20-minute line for it.

The Ferris Wheel went kind of higher than I expected, and it was a little bit scary. ^^; But near the top, T pulled out a ring and we got engaged~ (≧▽≦ )

Before going home, we went up into Landmark Tower just before they closed. The view at night was nice, but there were more people than the last time I was there.

So now we're engaged~~~ I called my parents on Sunday morning, and T's parents happened to call him in the middle of the day Saturday so they knew before I did. Some of my students noticed the ring, but none of the other teachers have asked about it yet. ^^; I'm excited~

皆さん、これからもよろしくね~
