[Hello, Ricardo Street. Were you enjoying your nice, quiet morning? Well, you might've been, before that FURIOUS SCREAM LIKE THE SOUND OF HELL BEING OPENED resounded from 508. Because little Frances has woken up, and she is not pleased. Not like she's ever pleased to begin with. To those who are fortunate enough not to live within a two block ( Read more... )

[Pride was situated doing homework. Or more like, he was scribbling down answers that he knew like the back of his hand. He hated this, but it wasn't as bad as... Eyes suddenly narrowed at the high pitched screaming echoing through the house. Someone new had arrived. And from the sounds of it? ...When he was able to, they were going to be silenced. But for now?]

[He moved slowly, carefully. Allowing the facade of the wary and afraid six-year-old to take over as he exited the room. He looked for the noise and upon it, large eyes turned larger in worry and lips opened slightly in confused despair before he began to speak. His voice was quiet, shaking as he did so.]

I-I don't think they're here.

[Frances turned around, glaring at the source of the voice. It was a kid-- a boy kid, but anything was better than an adult. He seemed a bit too young to be an operative, though... Still, it was worth a try. She crossed her arms and put on her best "I am highly ranked and a girl and thus you must listen to everything I say"-face.] Who're ya? What's your sector? Why can't I connect with Moonbase? AND WHY AM I WEARIN' THESE STUPID CLOTHES?

[Although the frightened child exterior remained, if "Pride" was surfaced annoyance would be evident. What the hell was this worm going off about? He bit back everything, damn this human form.]

I-I'm sorry, I don't know any of those things... But I'm Selim Bradley... from a country named Amestris in the 1910s.... I don't have a sector, but your clothes. [Head-duck.] We're all stuck in them and kinda... trapped here.

[What the hell was this stupid boy talking about? She's not even touching the first part, immediately writing it off as some stupid little pretendy-game the boy was playing.] Trapped? What do ya mean? [She goes to look out the window.] No fences, no walls, no armed guards-- How're ya trapped?! I could walk right outta here if I had some decent clothes!

[Quietly now.]

We can't leave this town. They took everything away from us... home, clothes, parents, toys, everything... You can try but... but we're stuck.

[Teeters on toes.] I've found people from my home though. Maybe you can too!

[She's still looking out the window. Trapped...] Who's responsible for this? Is it Father?

[He contained himself. Father? The things this worm was talking about were non-existent in his world. Pride steadied his mind.]

I-I don't really know, no one has really said...

Nah, it couldn't be him. Even he's not crazy enough to pull somethin' like this... [She sighs and turns to look at him.] Do ya know how many kids're in this place?

[He stared at her, tilting his head. After a moment, he moved, sitting down and wrapping his hands around his knees.]

We have to go to school here... and there's a bunch of kids there, but I'm not very good at math yet so I can't give a number.

...Besides, I don't really hang around there. I never got to play with kids back home, so I just come home. There's a bunch though...

[She shudders-- ugh, school. As if this place wasn't bad enough.] Well, 'least there's kids here... Hey, boy-- Selim. How old're ya?

[Pride nodded, keeping up the act. At her words he frowned, putting his chin ontop of his knees.]

I just turned six before coming here. Father was taking me out of Central for the first time as a treat. [Small voice, voice is small.]

Hm, six... Well, you're too young to be a full operative, but you've been pretty helpful-- for a boy. How'd ya like to be a cadet in the Kids Next Door?
