I haven't checked in for a bit; it's been a harried month...around here we're all giggling bleakly about how 2016 is the year of death (it does unsettle one a bit extra!) But for me personally it's showing its face by speeding by so fast that I can't help but reflect on what I must be hurtling towards. Speediest year yet! I'm hoping that doesn't actually just get worse from here on and that more stuff I'm doing/feeling draws me more into the bodily present and out of the command console in here.

Stricter structure's probably affecting things - I'm into my IT training now and it's fun, my colleagues are all friendly and funny and there's often nerdy stuff to talk about, and I'm looking forward to earning some certifications, but less time in the day to paint has slowed things a bit on the head front - not so much because there isn't time, but because there's a smaller incidence of sprayable weather in those shortened hours >< I really hope this damn windy fog would end, but then I guess it wouldn't be SF...

Let's see, since vacation there's been a lot of stress (sad news, ubiquitous medical insurance issues, people drama, other scary bureaucracy stuff I have to take care of, some sicknesses) but there've also been a lot of little happinesses...I did make some honest friends out of some of my shadowrun group and hung out with them outside of the runs, happily nerding out on yamishibai, rock band, Community (the D&D episode) and doggie picnics and reinforcement of my early love of OSC's gift for storytelling (before things got weird) and of the Substitute ^^ I think I may come out of this IT thing with some new friends, too ^^ Last weekend R's sis was an absolute darling to cut me a bob, which I've always wanted to try (to get the effect i want i have to grow out my front layers :( but I'm on the way at least), and we played with henna a bit too:

It's a bit messy ^^;;

and the ladies at The Candy Store totally know me by now :P They gave us free candy for helping them streamline their contest question XD but noooo, the Carnival Pops they carry shall be no more, the source went out of business :( I love these friggin things, I don't know what I'll do when they're gone...

Made it a point to see Keanu opening weekend - yes it was funny! They have been funnier on their show, but I'd call this a pretty decent first film offering; I had a really good time, the kitten action was fucking adorable and I'm happy to support those guys, yay! Haven't had a lot of movie outings otherwise, but I do recommend 90's doc The Iceman: Confessions of a Mafia Hitman, about Richard Kuklinski (chillingly candid in his soft sweater!), and 2015's Requiem for the American Dream with Noam Chomsky (in case anyone wondered about my political leanings), and The Night Manager, the very Britishy miniseries I'm about to watch the finale of ^^ Really drew me in (and man do I like Jed's clothes).

At some point, don't even remember when, I was in a KFC with R, we'd ordered dinner to go and were waiting for it, "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" by the Spinners was playing in the background, I started singing along with it softly to myself, and random guy I didn't know quietly joined me...that was a nice moment ^^

I played The Stanley Parable, which was quite adorable and not even terribly dated feeling - I recommend that for a lark - and I honestly enjoyed XCOM's Alien Hunters DLC ^^ Made for a few fun campaigns, and now I'm about to get back into Starcraft again I think, now that my PC can run it!

One of my IT colleagues is working on an RPG-related app (dice tracker/turn announcer) for a final project, which got me REALLY wanting to work on my worldbuilding app idea for mine, but I think it's too big a project to fit in with everything by the end of the year :/ still, it's put me back in a place where writing's making me excited once again!

Umms, got tix to Hall and Oates in September XD I don't know if I'll be doing anything for my birthday this month; it's a Monday, I have work and I'm already tired thinking about it, but I guess I'll see. I do have a (hopefully easy) addition to the answers section of my wishlist, though! I saw this this Rainbow Brite movie when I was little where she has to save her other color friends (ROYGBIV I guess) who've all been kidnapped...I remember one girl was trapped in a high bird's nest, and I think another one was in/behind a thorn wall...It doesn't really sound like the plot of "Star Stealer" as I'm reading blurbs, but I could be wrong...anyone else ever see that and can confirm the title? The way the kids were each trapped intrigued me greatly at the time ^^;;
