Well, I've got a rough-rough draft of the entire illustrated story I want to do for the Ginger Kisses site, and chapter 1 is almost to final draft stage. I've also started planning for the illustrations I want to do for chapter 1, all of which I plan to do in color. I am hoping that maybe I can get the first chapter, fully illustrated and online by the end of the month, but I'm not going to hold my breath considering my course load. I've also been pondering whether or not I want to go to the trouble to consider print formatting for this project. Of course everything I do will be in 300dpi regardless. I just hope people give it a chance and read it to be honest, because although I am enjoying working on it, it is much less satisfying when nobody reads the work.
This semester my drawing class is keeping me very very busy so most of the drawing I have done since the start of classes has been for class. Every weekend I have drawing homework, which happens to be doing self portraits, and this is going to continue at least for another week. As much as I hate having to draw my own face, I think going through these exercises will be, and is already being really helpful in regards to my comic work. It's forcing me to take the time to stop and analyze facial structure again, seeing where shadows fall and where there is highlight. I intend to bring what I learn from these portraits into my comics. I don't intend to go hog wild with the tone or anything, but I want to use a little more of it for facial shading than I have been. Anyway besides the self portraits, I have to keep a sketchbook as well, argh, so I have a ton of drawing to do this weekend, and none of it is what I really want to do, and by the time I get all of this drawing done I won't feel like drawing for pleasure any more. Oh well, I guess that's life....
