Fake It 'til You Make It

Today I have been reminded of the value of two things:

First, 'Fake it 'til you make it'.

I went to bed after 5:00 this morning. (The reason for this being that Shi-chan's schedule has been moved to late afternoon through early morning, so we've been trying to stay up until 4:00am to adjust.) At 9:45am, I got a phone call about a data entry position I applied to yesterday. The phone interview went pretty well, and she asked me if I could finish their assessment testing, and they'd try to get me into an interview this afternoon.

Obviously I said this was no problem.

To be completely honest, this was the worst I have ever presented myself in an interview. I didn't have make up on because I'm still suffering from a sinus cold and my eyes keep watering, so I was afraid it would run. I had three and a half hours of sleep and no food. I had dressed nicely, but it was more business casual than professional interview dress because it was short notice and Shi-chan and I had errands today. I sucked down a cough drop and a butterscotch in an effort to control my coughing. My voice is scratchy from my sore throat and all the coughing and sneezing. (I passed it off as allergies.) Also, cramps. >.<

In the end, my assessment score was about 800 shy of what they wanted for 10-Key - my interviewer turned out to be looking at my alphanumeric score, which is WAY higher - but they went ahead and put it through to be considered by a manager. If they're not willing to accept my scores, she has another position at a call center she'll put me in for instead. I should be hearing from her on Monday about which company they're going to have me interview with. -Fingers crossed-

Oh, and my 10-key score shot up about 900 KPH from last time, despite the fact that I was coughing and sneezing while I took it. My alphanumeric dropped 471, though. (Shi-chan flipped me off when I told her. ^.^;;)

And second, Friday the 13th is, and has always been, my lucky day. ♥
