4-Favorite Male Rangers(s)
1) Justin. *Absolutely* Justin. I know a lot of people hate/are jealous/annoyed by/ect. him, but I don't care. He *fascinated* me on so many levels. He was the first Ranger - well second, if you include a brief moment between Tommy and Saba - to really have no idea what the hell he was doing. (Remember the first morph, when he was the only one to turn to the right?) He was genuinely delighted to be a Ranger, constantly bouncing around and just *loving* what he was doing. And then, he turned out to be a genius!
I admired Justin for a lot of reasons. He put up with a lot more than people realize, you know? His first team was constantly rolling their eyes at him, being over protective of him, and even sometimes abandoning him when he actually *needed* them - like when he was being bullied, and the girls lectured him about using his Powers to teleport while falling out of a tree, then left him to deal with the problem on his own. He spent his birthday strapped to a bomb. He survived losing two sets of Zords and was inside the Power Chamber when it blew, then came up with the plan to get the others onto the shuttle and voluntarily stayed behind. And he was twelve/thirteen years old throughout all this. He was also the second Ranger to return for a crossover, and managed to rescue the *entire* Astro team with only himself and Storm Blaster.
Justin managed to be awesome, smart, energetic, and enduring all by himself. And if anyone in Ranger history has potential for PTSD, it's Justin. And Merrick, but we knew he was emo.
2) Dustin beats out Bridge for my second favorite by another very narrow margin, mostly by virtue of existing first. And he's so easy to love! ♥ He was an airhead sure, but he had a big heart and was fiercely loyal. He was the first to try and befriend Blake and Hunter, and forgave them so easily even after they'd used him. He was light and funny, and just fun to watch. But he could be serious when he needed to, even if no one else believed him. He stuck to his beliefs, and that makes me admire him even more.
Oh, and he's an Earth element, like me. That gives him extra bonus points. ^.^V
3) Bridge! ♥ Bridge is so much love! He's goofy like Dustin, but he has Justin's intelligence. And he's PSYCHIC. What's not to love?
Okay, seriously? I really do love the way his mind works. I adore the fact that he's psychic. I love his energy and enthusiasm, and the way he's so at peace with being the 'weird' member of the team. Everyone stares at him or often teases him, and he just rolls with it. He is who he is, and that's what he holds true to.
4) Trip, because again, psychic. I LIKE PSYCHICS, OKAY?
-Coughs-
Trip is sweet, and so earnest and eager to please. He gets taken advantage of for it sometimes yeah, but he's also very forgiving. It's like the ultimate combination of lost puppy and little brother wrapped up in one adorable package that makes you want to snuggle him lots and beat up the people who are mean to him.
And he has green hair. I like green.
5) In working on this meme, I am surprised to realize that Trent has actually made this list. Initially he wasn't one of my favorites, simply because he was hardly ever *there*. (And I actually haven't seen most of the last half of - well, most seasons, really. It's a strange phenomenon that I suffer from. ;_;) But the more I think about him, the more I admire him for all the hardships he went through, for the fact that he was a truly gentle person, that he hardly ever complained about anything even when he had a right to. He was loyal to what he had: to the team, because he wanted them to like him, but even more to his dad, because he was family, and Trent clearly values family above all else. He suffered and survived, and yet he was never truly forgiven for what happened - even though it was honestly not his fault. He deserved so much more than he was given for what he went through.
6) I can't believe I almost forgot to add R.J. I'm such a bad fan. -_-;;
There are many ways I could sum up my adoration for R.J. In the fact that he is random, smart, zen-like, capable, funny, and never quite what you expect. In the fact that I personally consider him to be a PR manifestation of
starandrea in my head, which I'm pretty sure many of us would agree with, and the ones that do would know *exactly* what I mean and why. In his casual attitude. In the fact that he's the first *not* evil Purple Ranger, which automatically makes him awesome. In the fact that while Bridge comes close, there has honestly never been another character in the history of PR (so far) quite like R.J.
But the easiest way to sum up my love for R.J. would be to quote my R.J. icon: R.J. is a metaphor for LIFE.
