Why does Alex hate Eric?

The more I re-read the last few chapters of ADSoR, the more I realize Alex is actually really protective of Wes. At least in My Little Corner of the Fandom(TM). Which makes blatant his dislike of Eric even more confusing.

And now I really want to figure out why he doesn't like Eric. Unfortunately, I can't decide what reason that is, so clearly, this needs a poll.
