Dear Self: Remember the Journey, Not the Destination
Dear Self:
You have moments of zen-like introspectiveness. You need to pay more attention to these. You need to remember them. That's why you're making this post, because you need to look back at these words and remember them. Constantly. Always.
If you magically fixed all the problems in your life, you wouldn't learn anything from them. Later, you can look back on this and think of how you made it through, and see how you've grown and changed and know how strong you are. But you need the bad experiences to appreciate the good, or the good parts of life are meaningless.
Right now it's REALLY REALLY bad, but that's because you're learning your strengths and finding yourself. You're learning what's important. And one day, you'll look back on this time and think 'Wow, that royally SUCKED. But hey, I'm still here. I've still got good things in my life'.
In the mean time, you work your way through it, focusing on the things that keep you sane and happy, and focusing on the things you *do* have.
You have friends who love you. You have a roof over your head. You have good things coming your way. You have goals and ambitions. You have love for others. You're learning to love yourself.
These are good things. Hold on to them.
They may be temporary. You may not have as many friends as you did. You may not have all the loved ones in your life that you used to. You may be lost, and scared, and not sure if things will be okay. You may have been forced to give up more than you thought was possible.
But you're still here. You're still breathing. That's step one. And every journey starts by breathing.
It's not much, but it's more than it sounds like.
Follow your own advice, self. Read this, *believe* it. Keep praying. Look for signs. You'll find your way. Have faith.
This is your journey. This is your story. Live it. Make what you want happen.
Hang in there. You'll be okay.
