Summary/: Wes has been found, and the Newtech Rangers are finally together again.
Warnings/: If you haven't read any of the above stories, some characters - namely Justin and possibly Eric - will seem incredibly OOC.
Author's Notes/: I was orginally going to put this in the next chapter of Bright Skies, but I decided there were other things I wanted to do with it. But I loved the scene too much to ditch it entirely, so it ended up here. Because the Newtech Rangers are too much fun to write. ^_^
"Time!"
Wes grunted as he was tackle-hugged, arms instinctively coming up to wrap around his attacker in return. "Hey, Mystic," he wheezed.
He stumbled as two more bodies slammed into them, pinning his arms as he was surrounded. He yelped as he and two of the other attackers were lifted up off their feet. "Astro! Knock it off!"
"But I *missed* you ... " Zhane whined behind him, resting his chin on Wes' shoulder. "It's no fun showing off my super skills when you're not there to appreciate them, 'cause no one else ever bothers to notice."
"You mean no one else cares," Justin corrected. He pulled back enough to glare at Wes. "Don't ever leave Quantum in charge again. Ever."
Wes sighed, rolling his eyes. "He's not that bad - "
"He let Mystic name things. He sent Zhane into the enemy base on a hope and a prayer. He let Lightspeed and Fury play with Zords. He blew things up." Justin's eyes narrowed. "Never. Again."
"Technically, Zhane planted the charges," Chip tried to point out. "And he wasn't the one who - "
"Never. Again."
Wes tried not to grin. "We've done worse missions with less, Turbo."
"That was a war zone," Justin argued.
"And this wasn't?" Eric spoke up, raising his eyebrows. "We went into a situation with limited supplies, a missing team member, no allies, and no idea what was going on."
"And now I have to explain to Tommy and Kim why we came back without any weapons," Justin shot back.
"I'll take the blame, Turbo," Wes promised, squeezing the other man's arm. "I'm the one who should have gotten in contact with you guys so you'd know what was going on."
"You should have," Zhane agreed, still with his chin on Wes' shoulder.
"But we forgive you!" Chip chimmed in.
"What are you three *doing*?" Taylor demanded, eyeing them.
"It's called a group hug," Zhane informed her. "We do these things. Get used to it. In fact, why aren't you part of it?"
Her eyes narrowed. "I don't do group hugs."
"That's a lie," Wes argued. "Cole hugs you all the time."
"That's because he's Cole."
He pretended to pout at her. "So you love Cole more than you love me?"
She rolled her eyes. "Oh for the love of - Fine. Fine!" She marched toward them with a determined look on her face, snagging Vanessa's arm as she passed and pulling the other woman along.
"Hey!" Vanessa protested sharply. "What are you doing?"
"If I have to suffer through this, so do you."
Wes laughed as both women begrudgingly joined in, flashing a grin at his husband. "Come on, Eric. It's a team building exercise."
"I hate you," Eric informed him flatly. "I hate you so much it hurts."
R.J. chuckled, clapping Eric on the back as he directed him towards the rest of them. "We hate you too, my good man," he promised cheerfully, throwing himself into the group hug with gleeful abandon.
