Per Episode 18:

Wurgh, I love this episode so much. It's got so much sweet romance, and great comedy, plus beautiful clothing to admire. I know for absolute certain that the Nelvajerks declined this episode, probably because there was too much 'Japanese culture' swimming around in it. God forbid American children see anything different or foreign on their TV sets, no doubt their tender little minds would explode.

(typing as I watch)

I am pretty sure that Sakura never dreamed about capturing just one card in the entire series, except here. Why is the Glow Card so special?

I wonder if Kero has developed his taste for specific Japanese dishes just since waking up, or if he was familiar with Japanese food from before, when living with Clow. How modern is modern-yaki?

I just LOVE Yukito's home, with its traditional wraparound porch. Those old Japanese homes have so much charm. I have equal affinity for traditional American bungalows, having just purchased a vintage 1938 model for myself.

Yukito, you just want an excuse to see Touya and get invited over to dinner. We all know what you're really after.

I crack up at that bit with the scrawled graffiti on her kitchen stool, "For Monsters Only". That's so cute.

So Touya doesn't want Sakura and Tomoyo running around at a neighborhood festival, but for Sakura to go alone to the house of a total stranger is fine. Sure.

THUNK goes the cleaver when Sakura says 'Tsukimine Shrine'. I think you're right, there's no way Touya has been back there since the night Kaho dumped him. It must have taken incredible will for him to step over that line and cross into its grounds.

Notice that Sakura's second-choice yukata has bunnies against the moon for its print.

I just love Chiharu's yukata covered with little koi fish. I think that's my favorite one.

Oh yeah, time for Li to break out the rifle and be a badass. Look at that pile of prizes he's collected already. I don't care what anyone says, that kid was clearly taught how to shoot alongside his sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat.

BEST TOUYA VS LI MOMENT. Their angry red glowing at one another just says it all. I'm not even sure if Touya understands why Li wants to win it so bad, if he's nervous Li's trying to win it for Sakura, or if that kid just pisses him off and they needed to have it out with one another. Whatever it is, it's hilarious, and I wish we'd had more moments like it in the show.

Aw, Sakura trying to confess. It's so romantic there under the tree, who cam blame her?

Touya gruffly giving Sakura the rabbit = the cutest.

Plus this is definitely a character-focused episode. Not enough ACTION! Boys won't watch unless there's ACTION! Character development is for girls. Where's the ACTION?

Super adorable. Does she ever give him anything or do anything nice for him just because he's her brother and she loves him, or is it always just about how he's a big old meanie?

I try and think, but you're right, the only times I can ever come up with her putting any thought toward her brother is when he's about to/has just been attacked by a Clow Card, or donated his magic to Yue. Never just because. To be fair, he does spend a lot of time teasing her and bossing her around, and like many children who resent their parents she might feel she doesn't owe him any generosity or special concern. But then, she still finds the time to be so wonderfully nice to everyone in the show, Li and Meilin included. So I don't know. Frankly, I'd have rather had the writers be a little nicer to Touya than Sakura (re: my rant on episode 16), and that would have been enough for me.
