i went to the grocery store on the way home from work on monday, and got some deli meat and sliced cheese for lunch and breakfast, and this morning i discover that even tho i asked for honey turkey i got honey ham instead, and when i asked for muenster i got mozzarella. note to self: make sure you're getting the right thing before you walk away from the counter next time. other note to self: the one deli guy at shaw's is STUPID.

my parents went to italy a couple weeks ago, and before they left i said hey, i have a couple restaurant recommendations, try here and here. the restaurant in rome, they couldn't get a reservation for. o.O the restaurant in venice, they asked the concierge at the hotel for dinner recommendations, and he said don't go there - the place i recommended - that's too touristy, go here instead. so they went to the place he recommended, because apparently me telling them three times "go to the bistrot de venise, it's really good and the menu is really interesting and the maitre' d will sing deep purple at you," that doesn't mean anything. so, mom? this is why you had a rude waiter and got seated in the same room as a party of twenty loud non-italian english speakers. listen to your daughter next time, ok? sometimes she does have the better idea, and she doesn't have an ulterior motive.

(they figured the concierge at the hotel knew someone at the restaurant he'd recommended, which was why he'd sent them there. and for the record? the bistrot de venise is not "too touristy." we weren't seated near twenty loud non-italians. we walked in without a reservation and they still sat us. and our waiter was not rude.)

this is kind of what i mean when i say people let me down. i'm not talking about anything really big. people i know, this is what they do. they don't listen to me when i do in fact know what i'm talking about. and it happens a lot, to the point i really shouldn't expect anyone to actually take my suggestions, because so few people do.

i have a headache and i don't want to go to writing group because of it and i can't even work up the energy to care that tomorrow is the second to last supernatural of the season. and that's not right. on the other hand, looking up someone you want to talk to, because you know they'll never look for you, is sometimes really not a bad idea.
