i felt that sam's flamboyant evil was in character with meg, y'know? i mean, she wasn't exactly subtle, and jared was playing sam as being possessed by her. i think that's what i was impressed with most... it must have been hard for jared to pull off as well as he did.
and yea, it is a bit much, but there's really nothing for it.
for pastor jim and caleb, good point. i dunno. but perhaps the boys informed ellen at some point? who then put word out? it's how i write off things like that. *just imagines a plausible enough scenario and tries to go with it*
harvelle probably didn't have anyone avenging him since john knew what happened and (presumably) killed whatever they were up against. ellen seems like she was more interested in caring for jo then, so she didn't go after it if john didn't off it.
i know i'm making excuses as explanations here, but unless the show clarifies (which it probably won't, it's got enough on its plate) i guess fans just have to imagine scenarios.
i'm not trying to be rude at all, i'm just really interested to discuss this with you. i like your thinky posts. :)

oh, good point, i hadn't thought of that. it makes a lot of sense. but it's also one of the things i didn't like about meg - she seemed kind of typically overdone and obviously evil. which also makes sense why i didn't like those parts of possessed!sam. but it is really clever of the ptb and jared to play it that way, and a nice clue for people who were paying attention (and who apparently weren't me >.< ).
maybe other hunters knew what killed pastor jim and caleb and didn't think they could fight it? or bobby got the word out that it was dead after they exorcised meg-the-demon (the first time). no one was on its trail because they didn't think there was anything to hunt. whereas whoever's hunting steve whatshisface's killer is assuming it's still alive.
and we do kind of have to make this stuff up after a while, because the show just isn't telling us what we need to know. i like some story-related motivation for what happens (not just "we want to do this because it's cool and will let us tell this kind of story and oh yeah, we like torturing the boys"), and when the ptb fail to provide one i get twitchy. and then someone goes "hey, maybe it went like this...." and if it makes sense - and usually it does - i feel better. it still kind of annoys me that every episode seems to have yet anothe reason for the boys to be careful and yet another person/group of people who are gunning for them, because it just seems so excessive and unnecessary. i like a sense of consequence as much as the next person, but this is ridiculous. after a point you hit critical mass and it CAN'T get any worse, and then people stop watching because it stops being interesting.
i don't think you're being rude, no worries. i have questions, you offer answers. it's all good.
