it's star wars weekend on tv (currently showing: the empire strikes back, of course sandwiched between a new hope and return of the jedi) (i love these movies but the dialogue can be kind of silly) and fat bear week in the real world. go forth and vote for your favorite chonk.
in the past week i ordered for, set up, and cleaned up both the admins' monthly lunch (mediterrean food and delicious) and the pi lunch (thai food and also delicious), saw the doctor (yearly checkup and she seemed reasonably pleased even tho i'm fat and out of shape), submitted a shit-ton of expenses (this is where i live now), pointed out to my roommate that she was telling me a story she's told me a couple times already to which she responded "well you do it too" (highly probable altho it struck me as kind of a dumb and immature response) and looked kind of surprised when i asked her to tell me the next time i do it so i can stop (why are you surprised i want you to tell me at the time when i do something annoying? i don't appreciate being told long after the fact and only because i asked you to stop doing something), and got my flu shot. *flexes* next up, covid booster! oooh.
also in the past week kevin mccarthy was booted out as speaker of the house. the reason (or i guess one of the reasons) the lunatic fringe repubs gave was because he worked with dems to pass a funding bill and keep the government open, but in order to kick him out they needed... all the dems to vote with them. heh. and of course no one has any idea what to do now that mccarthy's gone. this is no way to run a country altho i don't think actually governing is their goal.
now that classes have started the banana room is open at the u. i may never buy fruit again.
this morning i took my ass to the coffee place down the street from where i used to live and banged out 2000 words on the space truckers thing i'm working on for writing group. go me. :D they played 90s, maybe early 2000s music which was fun. i have a third idea for nano (i knew i did) that i'm going to blame on a. a lot of random bits of john wick movies, and b. my attempt to watch the continental, the john wick prequel tv series. (i only got one episode in. i didn't love it. i may or may not try episode 2.)
in the department of wtf, catholics, polish bishop apologises after reports of priests' "sex party with male prostitute". that is the exact headline. it's at least as wild as it sounds but i have questions.
