somewhere in there is a writing question
my sister's birthday was yesterday (chorus: "happy birthday!") so i took her out for dinner and had a delicious salmon and equally delicious sangria and it was very civilized and classy and then i went to bed at a completely ridiculous hour because i was *looks shifty* writing smut. ahem.
sunday the weather was SO NICE i took a walk and sat outside and had ice cream for lunch and admired the dogs and occasional small child and the kid in the graduation gown and mortarboard sitting with a bunch of people. it seems early for high school grads but i guess he could've been old enough for college.
and saturday it rained! a lot. my sister and i met cousin j with the twins and his fam for brunch and then went to costco. i love costco. it's huge and overwhelming and i still can't get over the giant sizes of everything and i love it. after costco we went back to her house to watch the eat part of eat pray love and all of under the tuscan sun because we're going to italy in a week and a half. :D i liked under the tuscan sun - it's very cute - and the part of eat pray love that we watched just made me hungry. shocker.
it's finals week at work so it's really quiet, and next week is a short week and will be really quiet too, and then i'll be on vacation. :D and tomorrow is writing group and it's a writing session and i have a question for all you lovely people. to wit: i need two names for a pair of older lesbians, say they're in their late 60s/early 70s. one's taller, one's shorter. one is a retired history/social studies teacher, altho i don't know if she taught middle school or high school, and i don't know what the other one did for a living. the shorter one is more practical, the taller one is more impulsive. one of them was married (to a man) before they got together, had a son, got divorced. they've been together at least thirty years. they're not married. they live in an old house, like an old farmhouse, in buttfuck nowhere, new england. i don't know their race(s), their religion(s), their background(s). and they don't have names. >.< so, uh, what would you name two little old lady lesbians?
this is old(ish) news, but the dancers at a topless bar in north hollywood unionized. they joined actors' equity because, as the president of the union pointed out, the dancers are performers, the members of actors' equity are performers, every worker who wants to join a union should be able to join a union.
also, rip tina turner. :( all those decades of amazing songs, all that life she lived, but she'll always be aunty entity to me.
