excitement!

tonight my curling team actually won! :O by a lot! :O for i think the first time! :O it was very exciting. and it snowed thursday (like, i finally got to wear my snow boots and had to brush it all off my car when i got home) and yesterday (a bit more than a dusting but not like thursday) and might later this week and i'm just very enthusiastic about the whole thing. it was very cold on friday but look, last monday it was 63º so i'm just glad it's winter again.

friday i met cousin j of j&m and his fam for dinner - his mom, who's my mom's first cousin, is in town - which was fun partly because it meant i didn't have to drive anywhere and could just meet them at a nice burger place on my way home from work. (i had to go in to work to set up a lunch. there was no one else there. this is ok.) (well, not nobody - one of my groups has a visiting student and she's in all the time, so i ran into her.)

saturday i took my car in for new tires - ok, first, the tire place called me four times between wednesday and saturday, including twice on friday (i didn't answer the first time because i didn't recognize the number), and every single time they asked when i was bringing my car in and every single time i said saturday between 11 and 11:30. make a note, guys. saturday morning you woke me up. anyway. i bring in my car, take the bus down to the comic shop, get a call while i'm chatting with the owner. dude on the other end says i also need new brakes and rear shocks, my car should be done by 5 (when they close). so now i have a whole lot more hours to kill. get lunch, spend some of that time at a bugs bunny film festival. the theater was - i know you'll all be surprised - full of parents and kids. and it's an old theater with old seats, so we were pretty packed in. the lights go out right before the show and a little kid says "it's really dark!" and everyone laughs because HOW CUTE. they started with the rabbit of seville - applause before and after the short - and we got a coyote and roadrunner, mark anthony the dog and the tiny kitten, a sylvester (altho not with tweety), a porky pig, a yosemite sam, a daffy (duck amuck which is weirdly enough making the rounds on tumblr), another bugs, probably something else i'm forgetting. but no michigan j frog! or marvin the martian! but still, very fun. and then the show gets out and i go outside to get the bus back to the tire place and it's snowing. :DDD and then i have to wait for the tire guys to finish with my car and charge me for the privilege, but now it runs a little better and i don't have to worry about a. blowing a tire on the highway, or b. the brakes going out. and they screwed the front license plate holder back on. (the snow keeps pushing it away from the bumper to the point i kept expecting it to fall off.) it was a longer day than i was expecting but i got looney tunes out of it which isn't a bad thing.

modern imaging tech is finding hidden doodles in old books. doodles, people's names, musical notes, all kinds of neat shit basically engraved on the pages but invisible to the unaided eye.

check out this frank lloyd wright house in carmel-on-the-sea, in california. it's apparently his only oceanfront house. it has a small and awkward kitchen which is a little disappointing but it's still a beautiful house and it just sold for A LOT of money. i mean. holy shit.

frank lloyd wright, fun with the fam, cool shit, snow, car issues, weekend wrapup, curling, bugs bunny
