today was presidents' day and i celebrated having the day off by spending some quality time sitting in the diesel writing about space truckers at a space truckstop, and then seeing magic mike's last dance (cute, sexy, occasionally dumb, very charming) (channing tatum really is a most charming potato), and then driving across the river *gasp* to get knishes and kasha varnishkas because yesterday my sister texted me that there was a knish booth at the farmers market she went to, which sent me and my roommate down a knish spiral and led to me googling the menu for the jewish deli we used to go to when i lived in new york which led to me mentioning kasha varnishkas which led to me learning my roommate had no idea what that was. so! my fellow hebs - raise your hand if you're familiar. (i wondered if it was a regional thing, since she grew up in greater boston and i grew up in greater new york.) anyway that's what i had for dinner - a potato knish and kasha varnishkas and some kale salad because i needed something green. tomorrow i promise i'll make actual food.
(trailers for the movie included cocaine bear (why), something with julianne moore and will from stranger things, and something by m night shyamalan with dave bautista and rupert grint.)
the weather was GORGEOUS when i got out of the movie, to the point i drove out to the jewish grocery store for knishes etc with my window down thinking "it's FEBRUARY in BOSTON why is my window ROLLED DOWN" and also "WHAT FUCKERY IS THIS" and also also "IT'S TOO EARLY FOR SPRING".
last night my curling team lost, sigh. by a lot. like, we shook early because my team was so far behind. (we did get one point! but couldn't sustain.) and saturday i was supposed to get new tires for my car except the tire place had to order them and whoever they ordered them from sent eight - not four - all the wrong size. >.< so they reordered and if they can change them in an hour or less i'll take my car back on wednesday, since i work from home, and if it takes longer i'll bring it in saturday. oy, tho.
the other thing i did on saturday, since i was out, was run some errands and go to the bookstore and because they have a cafe there i got a matcha latte and vietnamese fresh rolls and sat by a window and finished the book i was reading. and as i was driving home i passed someone walking a small black terrier wearing a small blue puffy coat. SOCUTE.
there's a seminar at work tomorrow for which the speakers are being hosted partly by one of my groups and partly by another group in a whole other department. lunch is (unusually) at 1:30 for an indeterminate number of people because even tho i asked for a headcount from the other group i didn't do it for mine. i ordered lunch for twenty but we'll see how many people even show up. ordering food is not my favorite thing about my job and i need to share that.
i finished 1899 which didn't make sense and didn't make sense and didn't make sense and then kind of did and then ENDED. it only got the one season which is exceptionally frustrating because I HAVE QUESTIONS.
this is older news now but if you live in spain
you're now guaranteed some time off work for debilitating cramps. which, wow, go spain. there's other stuff in there but the "you can take medical leave for cramps" thing really jumped out at me. i don't get them any more but on behalf of everyone who does, this is encouraging!
it is now cadbury creme egg season which means it's apparently
steal cadbury creme eggs season. by which i mean, 200k creme eggs. which is a lot of creme eggs. :O
