challenge #4 - add something to canon!
i got two. i'm not sure the first one totally counts because it's less "add something" and more "change something" (with a side of challenge #3 which was to scream into the void) but man, i would've given donna noble a different ending on doctor who. she got to go to new and exciting (and occasionally dangerous) places and do new and exciting things and use the skills she already had and learn new skills and she grew and changed and totally came into her own and the ptb took it all away from her. and i'm still salty about it fourteen years later. mediocre, mr davies.
the second one is that i'd give margo and eliot more time together the last season of the magicians. they were my otp in all timelines (altho i really liked quentin/eliot - peaches and plums, motherfucker) and it seemed like she kind of threw him over for josh and while josh was fine he wasn't eliot and he and margo didn't have the same lovingly bitchy chemistry and it just annoyed me how the show seemed to push the romantic/sexual relationship at the expense of the older, closer platonic relationship.
it's been very, very quiet at work because classes don't start until february and no one's there and there's not that much to do. this past week i had lunch with my fellow admins twice and i was only on campus three days. on tuesday i went to the glasses place for the fourth time to get a new eye exam so they can fix the lenses - because i can't see with the new glasses - but the eye doctor had to leave before she could figure out what was wrong, so i went back friday for the fifth time and i think she figured it out. so they sent my sunglasses back for new lenses to see if she got the prescription right this time. the whole thing has just been very weird. i didn't think my eyes were that strange. last night i got my bivalve bivalent covid booster - i always want to call it the bivalve booster, the oyster booster - and my arm still hurts where the guy stabbed me.
also! yesterday it snowed! :DDDD mostly it made the grass white and the sidewalks and street very wet, and by this morning it was mostly gone. sigh.
also also the house of representatives FINALLY elected a speaker after fifteen tries, which is the longest it's taken them since 1855 or something. on the one hand watching the republicans in wild disarray was some delicious schadenfreude but on the other it's a fucking awful way to run a country. but it's done now and we'll see what kinds of concessions mccarthy gave up to get 216 folks to vote for him.
today i got my comics (one parker girls, one dead boy detectives which i think is a new miniseries) and there were GIRL SCOUTS IN THE T STATION. \o/ \o/ so i have girl scout cookies and all is right with the world.
my roommate is making latkes out of season and while i respect her ambition i think she's nuts.
the missing ball of mozzarella, by the way, never made it out of my sister's house. it must have fallen out of the grocery bag i put it in, because she found it under a kitchen chair. >.< i mentioned it to her last night and she said "why didn't you text me and ask?" which is a very good question to which i have no answer.
