challenge #2 - write a promo/manifesto/primer!

i'm gonna blow up the ark, rene!

:D

(didn't any of you guys ever go to sunday school?)

i don't think i've ever written a primer for anything but i don't think anyone wants me to keep quoting (who knows? in a thousand years even you may be worth something) so i'm just going to say whatever you're looking for in a movie (except possibly strict historical accuracy), raiders of the lost ark probably has you covered. it's got action, adventure, comedy, romance, thrills, chills, spiders, snakes, nazis, improbable escapes, an antagonist and protagonist as opposite sides of the same coin, fight scenes, explosions, and harrison ford with a whip. :D and while some of the special effects did not age well the ark zapping everyone on the island at the end and giving all the soldiers wings of light before electrocuting them into oblivion is still fabulous.

(wiped clean by the wrath of god.)

seriously, i love this movie. it's forty years old and it still holds up and i would put it against any contemporary action-adventure-comedy-romance-horror(ish). (yes, even the mummy. no shade to brendan fraser and rachel weisz but harrison ford and karen allen were there first. this is the hill i will die on and no i am not taking criticism at this time. the only critique i will accept is that even tho i love john rhys-davies - asps. very dangerous. you go first. - if they were to make raiders today they'd hopefully cast an egyptian actor to play sallah rather than a white welsh dude.)

look. if you haven't seen it, watch it. if you have seen it, watch it again. :D

(it's a transmitter. it's a radio for speaking to god.)

(ok, ok, i'll stop.)

i have no idea what the fandom is like, altho i assume there is one, so all i can do is try and infect you with my love for this fabulous, fun, ridiculous movie. and also warn you about the spiders. alfred molina's first big movie and they cover him with big hairy spiders. i've seen raiders more times than i can count and i still can't watch that part.

anyway. half-assed primer over. :D

you americans, you're all the same. always overdressing for the wrong occasions.

(i can't help myself. i'll stop now. i'll just add that i've had a crush on harrison ford since i was seven and this movie is half the reason why.)

hey, this counts as my first fannish fifty post. thank you, indy.

fannish fifty, snowflake challenge, raiders of the lost ark
