yesterday my sister and i saw two open houses (she's still looking for a place), had lunch, saw two more open houses, went back to her place, measured her furniture and mentally arranged it in open house #2, and watched mrs harris goes to paris which is now streaming for rent. it has almost no surprises but it's a very sweet, very romantic, very affectionate movie and it has some absolutely stunning dresses in it. mrs harris goes to paris in 1957 to buy a dior dress. (hence the amazing clothes.) mrs harris is an english cleaning lady. mrs harris finds the £500 it costs to get a couture dior gown in 1957 through an unbelievably coincidental set of lucky circumstances but it's that kind of movie. also it has jason isaacs who is always a plus. and did i mention the gorgeous dresses?
curling is back! if you show up dressed to play, wear a mask on the ice, and only broomstack (that's the post-game socializing and drinking) outside. we tied, which means one win, one loss, and one tie so far. i'm ok with that. and i didn't totally suck! altho seriously, i've been curling long enough i should be better than i am.
since i finished my sister's cross stitch i started a new one and have been acquiring needle minders from etsy because they're a fun and inexpensive way to add some art to my life and support random artists.
the hedge came from sweet autumn stitch, the hamsa is from cotton and clay uk, and the orange slice is from grandma girl designs. (the orange slice is very sparkly in real life and does not photograph well.) i've had the cloud for a couple years and don't remember where it came from.

a medieval manuscript from a greek orthodox monastery was apparently written over the world's oldest known star map. the star map was originally written about 2100 years ago altho this particular palimpsest dates from the 10th or 11th century.
the shortlist of photos for the comedy wildlife photography awards has been revealed. admire and giggle. i think the lion cub and the vultures are my favorite.
