the weekend was SO NICE and i did not get to curl
last weekend my curling club had a bonspiel - the boospiel - and now people are coming down with covid. >.< so they paused the regular leagues for a few days, so i did not curl tonight. i am ok with this. so far we won one game and lost one game and i'm 100% in favor of putting off us losing another one.
(i tested negative. i figured i would.)
this means that today i saw an open house with my sister (cute place, lots of potential, ridiculously high hoa fees, in desperate need of updating), went to the grocery store, paid bills, and... that's kind of it. and yesterday i saw an open house for the apartment upstairs from tamalinn's - nice updates, good kitchen, attractive floors, small living room area, weirdly small windows in the master bedroom, skylight in the master bath. (big fan of skylights here.) me and tamalinn had lunch a little cafe down the street - i had a tuna melt because i haven't had one in years - there were some people sitting outside with a dog who was wearing a u of michigan jersey, so i got to ask who went to umich (one guy's girlfriend) and then i got to say i went there too. :D dog was very cute but, you know, dogs usually are. then of course we had to walk around the neighborhood (me and tamalinn, not me and the dog in the jersey) and pick up her tiny dog to walk with us, because it was SO NICE OUT.
a bad joke we heard on our walk:
why do watermelons have to get married?
because they cantaloupe!
can't elope. geddit? we thought it was both terrible and funny.
after that i sat in davis for a while with a giant iced tea and a cookie because did i mention it was SO NICE OUT? and you have to take advantage of that while you can.
nanowrimo starts in two weeks and i have an idea and a main character and a vague sense of some things that happen, but do i have a name for this main character? i do not. do i have any names for any of the side characters? i do not. do i know where the story is set? i do not. have i decided (briefly) that i wanted to write about something else? i have. (have i changed my mind? i have.) i have nothing! i probably had nothing at this time last year too, but i think this year i have more nothing. argh.
archaeologists dug up an ancient roman mosaic in syria that shows the trojan war. a surprisingly large amount of the mosaic is still intact. can anyone read greek and tell me who some of the people on it are? i can read "penthesilea" and i think "agamemnon" and "menelaus", but otherwise i don't know who anyone is.
there are online guides to fisting. and no, i do not mean lovingly detailed porn. i mean actual courses you can actually take. to learn about fisting. (as both the fister and the fistee, even.) man, i love the internet.
