barry doesn't know what you do for a living

my sister and i saw bullet train last night and it was funny and surreal and convoluted and increasingly violent and had two really fun cameos and we both enjoyed it. a couple times i had to suspend my disbelief so hard it broke but i think it was that kind of movie. good soundtrack, too. after that we had mexican for dinner (delicious) and called it a night because we're old.

saturday during the day i went into the square to get my comics (just one love and rockets) and have lunch at clover, and before that i had a dentist appointment at which i learned... i need a crown. >.< because one of my back teeth is chipped. i may or may not have whined "but my mom has crowns" and (internally) "they're for old teeth". i know this kind of thing can happen to anyone and at least it's not another cavity and my insurance will cover most of it, but STILL. so in two weeks i get one of my back teeth crowned. woo.

speaking of love and rockets, fantagraphics (the publisher) is releasing a 40th anniversary eight volume box set and i want it. it's $400 and i still want it. i may or may not call my local comic shop and ask if i can preorder it through them.

work on friday was marked by a lot of "why isn't this person getting back to me" and "how can i schedule a meeting if no one's free" and "should i take a nap or take a walk". (at 5:30. i did neither. but i did sit on the front porch for a while.) thursday and wednesday morning i helped out at a symposium by letting people into the building - not the building i work in but a different one, and the doors are locked unless you have an id, which most people at the symposium didn't - in return i got second breakfast, like a hobbit.

tuesday was tuesday. i had meetings. classes started so students are back on campus and my building still feels mostly empty. it's nice to see students wandering around outside, tho.

not sure what to say about queen elizabeth kicking it, other than i'm impressed she made it to ninety-six. and i feel bad for brits looking at the next couple weeks in frustration and annoyance and, uh, stronger emotions.

dunno how long the war in ukraine is going to last, but the post office is still going. nothing gets in the way of the mail.

meet south dakota's new cornbassador. he's seven and his whole life changed when he tried corn with butter. which i can understand, personally.

now that we're in storrowing season around here you can get a tiny storrowed toy truck of your very own. well ok, you probably can't since they all sold out, but you can pre-order a christmas tree ornament. then you just need a little bridge for it to get stuck under. :D

rip, bahstin, little kids are the cutest, love and rockets, postal service, movies, ukraine, weekend wrapup, nerd support
