a late birthday wish is better than never

happy (late >.< ) birthday to ghost-light, sharer of wangs and doggos and (successful!) leader of young theater campers! i'm going to assume it was a good one, and that there was cake. :D

dancing boys: *two-step*

so after a few weeks of being kind of at creative loose ends - it always happens after i post a bang - i now have four - count 'em - baby plot bunnies, not counting the random musings about nano. i blame tumblr for three of them. >.< and probably only one of them will ever be written, because one of them requires research and honestly, i'm not up to it. so one plot bunny free to a good home, with a female illusionist (in the houdini mold but, you know, a lady) and her female assistant - instead of the male illusionist with the sexy female assistant, she's a sexy female illusionist with a female assistant in a suit. (who's also hot because come on, ladies in suits. right?) think early 20th century lesbian magicians with a gimmick. :D but you see what i mean about research. i wanted to spend today working on the idea that has the best chance of being a thing, except i actually had work to do at work.

yesterday after i signed off i went for a walk and saw a family - mom, dad, two dogs, small child in a stroller - the small child waved at me and said hi as i walked past, and it was THE CUTEST FUCKING THING. SO, SO CUTE. (i was caught off guard and didn't have time to wave but i did say hi back.) and today i took a walk in the other direction and there was a little teardrop camper parked in a driveway down the street! not retro but still quite cute. i was very excited. i do love a cute camper.

also on sunday i met a dog across the street - she was a pit mix and VERY EXCITABLE. also totally adorable and her people were very friendly.

saturday friend r's boyfriend had a birthday party at a park, and we sat around and ate and chatted and ate and watched the weather (it was supposed to rain) and did i mention we ate? being able to hang out with people in person still hasn't gotten old. the party broke up before it rained, and then i went to my sister's to watch the fourth fast and furious (personally i'd rather have watched the last two episodes of loki but we don't have disney+ in my house yet) which was just as ridiculous as the previous times i saw it. it's fun, tho.

did i mention i watched all of we are lady parts? i did. i think it's on peacock, and if you can get your hands on it i highly recommend it. i also started kevin can f*ck himself, which is half exaggerrated sitcom and half dark-ass drama, and while it's kind of whiplashy switching between genres, i'm enjoying it. well, "enjoying" might not be the right word.... but i want to know what happens. leverage: redemption continues fablous, altho i liked 1x06 better than 1x05. two more episodes to go and i'm not spoiled for either of them. :D

if you want to read something poignant, i bring you the story of an airline service for dead bodies in alaska. if there's going to be an autopsy, a lot of times the dead person has to be flown there. it's a hard job, as you can guess.

since 1937 the mormons have been putting on a (completely ridiculous and ott) pageant in upstate new york, near where joseph smith found the gold plates. the last one was (unintentionally) in 2019. it sounds like quite an undertaking, and a weird combination of too cheesy to be believed and absolutely, unutterably sincere.

as an aside, i always thought the gold plates were, you know, actual plates, like big gold serving platters. but no.

wtf, leverage: redemption, doggie love, mormons, little kids are the cutest, plot bunnies, kevin can f himself, fun with friends, we are lady parts, psa, i love where i live, alaska
