happy birthday
musesfool, baker of delicious looking baked goods! (seems appropriate for a birthday....) also creator of other nifty things besides cake. like fic. :D
dancing boys: *rhumba!*
i have finally unpacked into my big bookcases! which means i got rid of a literal tower of boxes, go me. there are still a few i can't unpack yet - one is full of unsorted photos, one is full of cds and dvds and i have nowhere to put them, and one is apparently full of photos and tiny things which, again, i have nowhere to put - but i also unearthed the rest of the throw pillows for my couch and i moved the rug around now that there's more room for it. also i swept twice because for some reason stacks of moving boxes generate a lot of dust. but the living room is looking more and more like people actually live in it! like, it's not quite as full of boxes and plastic crates any more. the dining room is another story. sometimes i despair.
so richard branson became
the first civilian to go into space in his own rocket - well, "space", depending on how you define it - in what is really just a very expensive dick-measuring contest among some of the world's wealthiest dudes. yes yes, you're all very big, i'm sure your lady friends are quite impressed. but seriously, if i had the money to be a space tourist, i'd have bought a ticket on the first rocket up as soon as they were available. i mean, come on, IT'S SPACE. i'd absolutely shell out a quarter of a million to experience zero gravity and see the curve of the earth from like sixty miles up. all that sky would freak me right out and i'd probably get so airsick, and i'd do it anyway.
the olympics start next week - without spectators! - and there's
a team refugee - twenty-nine athletes competing in twelve different sports. i think it's sad, because they're all effectively stateless, but also kind of encouraging, because they can still go to the olympics as part of a team, and they get a chance to compete like anyone else.
now that i've posted my bang i don't know what to do with myself. is it too soon to think about nano? probably not.
three episodes into the new leverage and i really like how they're handling the lack of nate. namely, mentioning him very occasionally, but just enough to kind of serve sophie's character arc. it still feels a lot like the old leverage, except everyone's older, but in very believable ways. two thumbs up so far. i think harry wilson's great, and breanna is just the cutest.
