i'd still be so busy even if i didn't have an actual eight-hours-a-day job
nano season is upon us! and i already have 5k words, go me. there are two - count 'em - boston area wrimo discords, the official one and the non-official one, and boy howdy can those people talk. yesterday the official discord held a twelve-hour write-in on discord and zoom and oh my god, how does anyone get any actual writing done? they're all chatting on the servers! i swear it's almost a full time job keeping up with them.
also i discovered one of my local friends is doing nano for only the second time! i didn't even know she was a writer. she figured it won't be the worst experience of 2020 (which is a low bar, can i just say) so she may as well commit. i told her about the discords and welcomed her to the insanity. :D
anyway. i have no idea what i'm doing but so far it hasn't been too much of an issue.
in totally other news, the schedule for confabcon is up. everything's in central time (us central, which i think is gmt -6?), so plan accordingly. you have until the 6th (friday) to register if you haven't yet and want to go. i'm super curious how you hold an online con, and what the substitute is for randomly sitting around having random conversations with people you know and also random strangers. i mean, how do you play cards against humanity on discord? y'know?
i hope my fellow americans have either voted already or plan to do so tomorrow. if not, know that i judge you harshly. the one thing i missed about voting by mail is getting a sticker. i like the stickers! i'm really twelve, what can i say. :D i didn't know that different states have different sticker designs. how cool!
so i posted the one story about the lighthouse keeper and the agoraphobe (aka fate's plaything) that i submitted for writing group, and i have no idea if anyone read it or not. altho to be fair i don't have a header or any above-the-cut text or anything, and probably i should have done that. it's been a long time since anyone could take any original fic on faith around here. anyway, someone read it and tell me what you think. it's here.
