if there are jews in the audience who plan to observe yom kippur, i hope you have a meaningful fast.
for those of you who don't plan to fast (hebs and goyim alike :D ), enjoy your monday. hopefully it isn't too much of a monday.
today is friend r's birthday so yesterday she had a socially distant birthday party in a local park. i brought tiny cupcakes, because cupcakes. :D we sat around and ate and chatted and admired all the dogs. the weather was GORGEOUS so there were a not-inconsiderable number of people out and about with their furry friends. none of the dogs came close to us, tho, so sadly i did not get to pet any.
today it's hot and humid. >.< at least in my apartment. and i spent way more time than was necessary trying to find cheese blintzes with which to break the fast tomorrow, with NO LUCK. WTF. CHEESE BLINTZES SHOULD NOT BE HARD TO FIND.
i finished the umbrella academy and i did not see the end coming and i really enjoyed it. i definitely liked s2 better than s1, possibly because the characters seemed to like each other a little better, and possibly because i was already familiar with the world and knew what was going on. also sometimes it was weird as hell in ways i really appreciated. i like that they cast a woman of color for alison - she's white in the comics - because it gave the ptb an opportunity to look at racism and civil rights activism in the early 60s, and because there's no reason for all the hargreeveses to be white anyway. also i just liked the actress. two thumbs up for the season overall. next up is ricordi? (starring luca "why is the porn 'stache so hot" marinelli) and wolf (starring marwan "oh those curls" kenzari) (altho he plays a boxer so his hair is very short), because i have three more weeks of free amazon prime. was there something else on netflix i should be watching? the new season of archer started a couple weeks ago, and the new season of fargo starts today and i plan to watch because a. timothy olyphant, and b. chris rock.
the flag in front of the ballfield across the street from me has been flying at half-mast all week, i've been assuming for ruth bader ginsburg. i can't think of who else might have died, or what might be going on that whoever's in charge of the flag decided to lower it. i'm still impressed that she's the first woman to ever lie in state at the capitol.
when jews die, one of the things you say in condolence is "may their memory be a blessing". for her i've also seen "may her memory be a revolution", and i can get behind that.
for a year and a half everyone in this village in wales
would lose their broadband at the same time every day. the culprit? someone's ancient tv.
meet curly, the curling robot. my curling club canceled the first half of the season, but that doesn't mean i can't share curling stories when i find them. :D can you teach a robot to curl? apparently you can.
