I FINALLY GOT MY CAR BACK! for quite a lot of money. >.< they probably could've just replaced the transmission for what it cost. >.< (90% labor and only 10% parts.) the guy at the garage suggested i maybe drive it more than just to the grocery store once a week. i think i can do that. it's so nice to be mobile again.
a thing i really like about the old guard and a thing i keep noticing:
aside from booker's comment that andy probably knew rodin biblically, and i think we're supposed to realize that joe and nicky actually knew shakespeare when merrick quotes king lear at them - apparently greg rucka kind of confirmed? i saw it on tumblr (of course) but don't remember where - there's nothing in the movie about "oh, i was besties with these famous people and was present at these important political/social/artistic/scientific events". (i don't think copley's wall counts. it's not like they brag about being in the trenches.) and with all the places the team has been and for all the centuries they've lived, they had to have met someone who eventually turned out to be a big deal, or they were around when something big happened. i mean, something that wasn't, like, a job or a mission. but there's almost none of that. it's kind of nice.
also the guys at least are sartorially very nondescript. they're a good-looking bunch but i think good-looking the way normal people are good-looking, and while you might look at joe twice if he passed you on the street, he's not dressed in any way to stand out. neither are nicky or booker. dark neutrals, no patterns, mainstream hair. andy's tall and has presence but she's also hyper aware of making any lasting impression - she offers to take those tourists' photo in marrakesh just so she can delete the picture she's in. i don't think charlize theron with black hair and black clothes is ever going to blend in anywhere, but damn if andy doesn't try.
nile gets a pass because she's so new to being immortal. she looks like a regular person once she's out of camo, but i'd guess her clothes in the last scene are close to her own style, not just something the team got her to change into while they were trying to lie low and also figure out why copley tried to kill them. so, something she'd wear because she likes it and likes how she looks in it, not because she's trying not to be noticed.
the singer of my immortal (the song) has now read my immortal (the fanfic). by which i mean, the verge interviewed amy lee of evanescence, and asked her if she read it. she has now. it's a fun interview.
