I love reading about Jewish pirates, it's amazing how many trace their piracy in some way back to the Spanish Inquisition.

I hope you have an easy and meaning fast if you're observing Yom Kippur that way.

the spanish inquisition was to blame for a lot of things! all those jews who'd been kicked out of the country had to make money somehow. :D and get back at spain.

my fast wasn't too awful! my sister and i saw ad astra between the late morning and concluding services, so i had something else to think about. probably not the spirit of the holiday, but we needed to do something. and then i ate too much at break-the-fast, but that might actually be in the spirit of the holiday.
