last night i dreamed i went to bed at five (in the morning) and woke up at seven (in the morning). i did not in reality do that, but i still woke up feeling like i'd only gotten two hours of sleep. >.< seriously, self.
in other news, nano is almost upon us and i lost some time yesterday to the forums. SUCH A TIME WASTER. i also had a fifth - count it - FIFTH idea for this year, altho it's an outgrowth of the fourth idea and is kind of what happens when you look at your main character and your setting and your time period and think "a. i did this already, and b. what's the actual story?" and your brain goes "socialists!" because that's apparently what my brain does now. except that doesn't work, so i end up with... the great depression and the fsa (farm security administration) photography project. we'll see if this one sticks. for the record, the previous four ideas were historical, historical-based-on-a-real-thing, contemporary, and historical. i'm sensing a trend.
also reading the forums made me change my mind about my bigbang for next year, but if i wasn't rethinking that i wouldn't be me.
anyway. hi. yesterday there was a reception at work for an exhibit in a little gallery next to one of the libraries, which i got to plan, by which i mean i ordered food for it. it was from 5-6 which meant i had to stay late, which wasn't too bad because i also got to stuff my face with cheese. :D i think it went well, and all the leftover food and drink went to the librarians in the aforementioned library, because it was right there and we don't want them to starve. catering was almost a half hour early, tho, so i had to hustle my ass over to the building a lot sooner than i was planning. oh well. it worked out. the exhibit's pretty cool too - it's about printing and the book as a thing, and has some student-printed pamphlets because the university has a hand-operated press. it's neat.
on sunday i curled for the first time since the spring, and we lost. sigh. i think i made one or two good shots, and a bunch of bad ones of the "this is because i haven't done this in like six months" variety. hopefully i'll get better. i like my team, at least, and the skip is really good. and it gets me out of the house. :D
saturday i met my sister and one of our cousins for dinner, which was delish. also it's always nice to spend some time with the fam you like but never see. i spent the morning getting new brakes for my car :| and buying comics and talking about cuba and cuban food. and i think something happened on friday that i thought was worth sharing but now i don't remember what it was. the blacklist is back, maybe that's it. i got home late on friday. why did i get home late? oh, i had to go to the laundromat. i knew there was something.
i'm so far behind on my reading for lj idol. >.< i apologize to my fellow idolers! rosh hashanah totally threw me off my game, and i feel weird reading at work. altho i apparently don't feel weird reading the nano forums....
the good place continues to be good and i continue to be sad it's the last season, evil continues to be interesting, emergence is getting weird but in ways i like, i still don't know what i think about the unicorn (mostly because walton goggins seems so weirdly cast as the protagonist of what's billed as a comedy-drama), and stumptown may not be long for this viewing. i still like cobie smulders, tho.
tonight is kol nidre and tomorrow is yom kippur, so let me wish the hebs on the flist a meaningful fast.
archaeologists uncover an unusually large ancient city in Israel, at least unusually large for the time period and the area. and well-planned. i love it when archaeologists find stuff they weren't expecting.
