he never brought anyone on stage before

the new tax partner apparently figured out how to enter her own time, because i didn't get any high maintenance demands from her today. woot. i had a lot of other shit to do anyway. we had cannolis at three, because i guess the red sox did something exciting. i may or may not have had two (one regular with chocolate chips and one chocolate with chocolate chips) and brought another home (hazelnut) for, uh, dinner. they're good cannoli.

i signed up for nano, by which i mean i signed on to the site for the first time in ten months. i have the vaguest idea what the story is and i'm currently having a little "holy shit i need a lot of names" panic. last year i did a care package swap but now i can't remember where i found the forum thread. >.< that was fun and i'd love to do it again. and i'm not just saying that because my swap buddy sent me very, very comfy socks and some delicious tea.

wait, i just found it. yay. now i need some names! who else is doing nano? in a month we can bitch and moan and whine and complain together. :D

so i have nano to think about, and the space smugglers for writing group, and my bang for next year which i can't talk about but am kind of vaguely contemplating in the back of my head, and i had a little idea about a coffee shop au, only original fic, which doesn't make it a coffee shop au so much as a meet-cute with a barista and a coffeeshop regular. but sometimes i like that kind of thing, so.

in more mundane and less personally creative news, my sister and i saw a star is born yesterday, and i liked it - bradley cooper and lady gaga are both really good and have some nice chemistry - it felt like more his story than hers, and i kind of wanted her story too. but the music's great and it has sam elliot, who's always worth watching, and andrew dice clay! as lady gaga's dad! i didn't recognize him and wouldn't have guessed it was him if i hadn't seen the credits. ...my amazement probably makes more sense if you remember him in his loud, raunchy heyday. he's playing against type here, but he and gaga also had good father-daughter chemistry. i liked the dad.

previews included a movie about donald rumsfeld (someone in the audience booed), one about rbg (a couple people cheered), one about neil armstrong, a mary poppins remake (why), and some more i don't remember. there were a lot of previews.

and on saturday i went to farwing's for a combination birthday/i-bought-a-punch-bowl-and-it's-really-cool party. i sat around and ate and drank punch (alcoholic and non) and chatted with her friends, and it was fun. one of her friends brought an apple cake that was about 90% apple, with just enough cake to hold it together. i made snickerdoodles, and while they weren't quite what i was expecting, they were good. there are still some in my freezer.

writing, fun with friends, movies, new job second floor, bigbang 2019, weekend wrapup, nanowrimo
