books! sort of.
What I just finished reading:
the divided earth, the last nameless city volume, written and drawn by faith erin hicks. featuring among other things a badass mom and warrior who is a. taller than her husband, b. highly respected, and c. did i mention the badass? her husband actually likes that she's taller than he is. the trilogy has other things to recommend it, but one of them is that there are some great female characters. highly recommended.
What I am reading now:
still quicksilver, which i'm enjoying even tho there really is a lot of seventeenth-century science.
What I'm going to read next:
record of a spaceborn few? the next goldie vance? i don't know. quicksilver is massive so i have some time to think about it.
yesterday it was rainy and fallish, and today it was like 80º and i have a headcold. so much oy.
the japanese space agency landed a couple of rovers on an asteroid. it's apparently the first successful landing of a mobile rover on an asteroid. how cool!
guy in prison for murder draws golf courses to stay sane. golf digest gets excited about his art. golf digest sees some holes in the story of his conviction. long story short: a golf magazine helped free a guy who was in jail for a crime he didn't actually commit. he's presumably still drawing golf courses, only now he can do it anywhere he pleases.
