guess what i did friday morning! walked out of the house without my keys! >.< i went to work because i could, and what else was i going to do, and did... a lot of nothing. we had a happy hour at 4:30, tho, with wine and beer and cheese and crackers, and really all i wanted was to stuff my face with cheese. i didn't, but i came close. and then i called the landlady's son to tell him i was locked out AGAIN. eventually he came over and unlocked the doors, but by the time i got home someone had locked them again. so i called him back and he actually came over and let me in. OH MY GOD, THO. i wouldn't feel quite as stupid if i HADN'T JUST DONE THAT. OY.
today i got copies of my keys made and it turns out only one of them actually works. what the hell, tags. i have to take them back tomorrow and i guess get better copies.
yesterday there was some kind of gun rights rally on the steps of the state house - nazis, basically - and i went with tamalinn and one of her friends to counter-protest. tamalinn's friend found one of her friends, and i saw a woman who used to be in my writing group, who was with the counter-protestors as a first aid worker. (the red cross made of tape on her arm was a dead giveaway.) we chanted and booed and some folks had noisemakers, and every so often someone in a yellow vest (i assumed one of the organizers) would wander through the counter-protestors with water or cough drops or something. they seemed very organized. we outnumbered the nazis, altho not by huge numbers, but also they bailed early - it started to rain - so i'll call it a win.
i finally started editing my bigbang. i rewrote the beginning a little bit and am now cutting out words. there's some extraneous shit in there. and! cassiopeia7 started sending me draft art, and it is SO CUTE. coincidentally, one of the many x-files reruns i saw last night was the vampire episode with luke wilson, in which mulder and scully are called to investigate because the pizza delivery boy is eating tourists.
antarctica is going to have its first ever pride celebration in a week, because there are queer folks even at the bottom of the world. how cool is that?
