What I just finished reading:
engines of the broken world, which was just as creepy as advertised, with bonus weirdness i wasn't expecting. i really liked the narrative voice, and the creep was really well done.
What I am reading now:
brazen: rebel ladies who rocked the world, written and illustrated by penelope bagieu. it's basically comic strip potted histories of a bunch of ladies who did what they wanted. forged new paths, broke glass ceilings, won the nobel peace prize, that kind of thing. they tend to get happy endings - altho there's a vulcanologist who gets swept away by a lava stream - which makes it more uplifting than the book about princesses i read, and the illustrations are kind of cartoony and expressive and super cute.
What I'm going to read next:
not a clue.
just as a heads-up, friday is
national doughnut day. free krispy kremes, if there's one near you.
because i don't want to think about what i have to do to fix the current bang, i've started thinking about next year's bang. >.< it will require advance planning, but because i always change my mind about what i'm going to write, i don't know how much i should actually commit to. i've also got nano to contemplate, and that will also require advance planning and worldbuilding because my idea is based on
this twitter thread about the met ball. i used to write a lot of fantasy back in the day, and every so often i want to get back to my roots. besides, worldbuilding is fun. i don't think i'm very good at it, but i like doing it.
